What is happening?

THE KINGSTON UPON HULL CITY COUNCIL

(PROHIBITION OF WAITING) ORDER 2026

HOWDALE ROAD AREA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Kingston upon Hull City Council on the 23rd February 2026 made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order will come into operation on the 9th March 2026.

The effect of the Order is to introduce new “No Waiting At Any Time” Restrictions on Howdale Road at the junctions with Moor Hall Drive, Linnet Drive, Kilton Court, Mallyan Close and Lunedale Close. The purpose of the Order is considered necessary as on street parking is, at times, causing difficulties for vehicles when emerging onto Howdale Road from the side streets listed above. It is anticipated that the new restrictions will improve both traffic flow and road safety.

A copy of the Order and relevant map may be examined during normal office hours at the Reception and Enquiries Office, The Guildhall, The Kingston upon Hull, reference JGO/39800-1518.

If you wish to question the validity of this Order or any provisions contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks from the 23rd February 2026, apply to the High court for this purpose.

BEECH GROVE/ASH GROVE/BROOKLYN STREET/VERMONT STREET
(20 MPH) SPEED LIMIT ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Kingston upon Hull City Council proposes to make an Order under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and in pursuance of powers granted by the Secretary of State under Section 74 and Part 2 of Schedule 8 and under Paragraph 8 of Schedule 9 of the Traffic Management Act 2004.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce a 20 mph speed limit zone on Beech Grove, Ash Grove, Brooklyn Street and Vermont Street. 

The purpose of the Order is considered necessary in order to improve road safety by promoting vehicle speed that is more appropriate for a residential area.

A copy of the draft Order, the relevant plan and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order are available for inspection during normal office hours at the General Reception Area, The Kingston upon Hull City Council, The Guildhall, Kingston upon Hull, HU1 2AA.

ORMONDE AVENUE AND BERESFORD AVENUE
(PROHIBITION OF WAITING) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Kingston upon Hull City Council proposes to make an Order under Sections 1, 2(1) to (3), 4(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and in pursuance of powers granted by the Secretary of State under Section 74 and Part 2 of Schedule 8 and under Paragraph 8 of Schedule 9 of the Traffic Management Act 2004.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce additional “No Waiting At Any Time” Restrictions on Ormonde Avenue and Beresford Avenue in order to improve the flow of traffic along the street.

The purpose of the Order is considered necessary as presently on street parking is, at times, causing difficulties for moving traffic to safely navigate along the streets.

A copy of the draft Order, the relevant plan and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order are available for inspection during normal office hours at the General Reception Area, The Kingston upon Hull City Council, The Guildhall, Kingston upon Hull, HU1 2AA.

SWALLOWFIELD DRIVE (PART)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Kingston upon Hull City Council by virtue of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 has made an Order.

The effect of the Order is to prohibit any person with a vehicle from proceeding along Swallowfield Drive, between numbers 17 to 24, Kingston upon Hull.

The purpose of the Order is to ensure the safety of the public and operatives during new electrical connection works.

The alternative route for vehicles will be signed.

The Order will come into effect 16th March 2026 and may continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

It is anticipated, however, that the works will be completed between 8am and 5pm commencing 16th March 2026 until 26th March 2026.

TOWN POLICE CLAUSES ACT 1847
ORDER FOR THE PREVENTION OF OBSTRUCTION IN STREETS
HIGH STREET, HULL MUSEUMS QUARTER, KINGSTON UPON HULL

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 2nd March 2026, the Kingston upon Hull City Council made an Order under Section 21 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 for the purpose of preventing obstructions in the length of street in the City of Kingston upon Hull hereinafter mentioned on the occasion of the Colliderfest arts and science festival, on Saturday 14th March 2026 and Sunday 15th March 2026. The Order:-

(a) prohibits any person (except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform) from driving, riding or propelling any vehicle or causing or permitting any vehicle to wait in or on that length of:

• High Street, from 148 High Street (next to Scale Lane) up to 26 High Street (excluding Gandhi Way)
• Chapel Lane, and
• Bishop Lane
The roads will be closed to vehicles but will remain open to pedestrians, local residents and businesses in the area, between 8.30am to 5pm on the Saturday 14th March 2026, and 9.30am to 5pm on Sunday 15th March 2026,

(b) requires any person directed or permitted by a police constable in uniform to drive, ride or propel a vehicle or to cause or permit a vehicle to wait on or in the said length of street during the said hours on the said day to obey the directions of the said police constable and of any other police constable in uniform, and
(c) r equires all persons present in the said length of street during the said hours on the said day to comply with the directions of any police constable in uniform.

The purpose of these closures is to ensure the safety of the public and operatives during the Colliderfest arts and science festival.

The Order does not apply to fire brigade vehicles, ambulance and police vehicles.
The penalty for an infringement of the Order is a fine upon conviction not exceeding Four hundred pounds.

A copy of the said Order is available for inspection during normal office hours at the Reception Office at the Guildhall, Kingston upon Hull.
