What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN WARE, WIDFORD, CHESHUNT AND WORMLEY) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
1. the road leading to Nos.61-87 King George Road, Ware from its junction with the King George Road roundabout north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
2. that length of B1004 (High Street/Ware Road), Widford from its junction with Pegs Lane south westwards to its junction with Benningfield Road, a distance of approximately 363m.
An alternative route will be via B1004 (High Street/Widford Road/Tower Hill/High Street/Winding Hill/Great Hadham Road), A1184 (St James Way/London Road/Cambridge Road/London Road/Bonks Hill/Harlow Road/Cambridge Road), A414 (Edinburgh Way/Fifth Avenue/Eastwick Road), A1170 (Pepper Hill/Amwell Hill/London Road/Viaduct Road/Bridge Foot) and B1004 (Star Street/Widbury Hill/Ware Road).
3. the road situated to the rear of Nos.39-47 Russells Ride, Cheshunt from its junction with Russells Ride north eastwards and north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
4. that length of Spicersfield, Cheshunt from its northernmost junction with Adamsfield clockwise for its entire length.
An alternative route will be via Adamsfield.
5. that length of Shirley Close, Wormley from its junction with Westlea Road south westwards and south eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 16 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

An alternative route will be via Pye Corner, Eastwick Road, A414 Eastwick Road, B181 (Roydon Road/Hunsdon Road/Stanstead Road/High Street/Widford Road/Hunsdon Road), B1004 (High Street/Medcalf Hill/Widford Road/Tower Hill/High Street/Winding Hill/Great Hadham Road), Aerodrome Road, Blounts Lane, Slough Road, Beanfield Road, High Wych Lane, High Wych Road and Pye Corner or via Pye Corner, Eastwick Road, A414 Eastwick Road, Church Lane, Acorn Street, B1004 (High Street/Medcalf Hill/Widford Road/Tower Hill/High Street/Winding Hill/Great Hadham Road), Aerodrome Road, Blounts Lane, Slough Road, Beanfield Road, High Wych Lane, High Wych Road and Pye Corner.
2. that length of Gilston Lane, Gilston from its junction with Pye Corner north westwards for a distance of approximately 120m.
An alternative route will be via Pye Corner, Eastwick Road, High Wych Road, High Wych Lane, Bakers Lane, 3U172 (unnamed road) and Gilston Lane.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 16 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

1. that length of Davies Street, Hertford from its junction with Railway Street south westwards and north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
2. that length of Cross Road, Hertford from its junction with B158 Bengeo Street westwards to its junction with Duncombe Road, a distance of approximately 95m.
An alternative route will be via B158 Bengeo Street, The Avenue, Church Road and Duncombe Road.
3. that length of Duncombe Road, Hertford from its junction with Church Road south westwards to its junction with Byde Street, a distance of approximately 120m.
An alternative route will be via Church Road, Elton Road, Fanshawe Street and Byde Street.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 16 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Stockalls Lane, Great Munden from its junction with Great Munden Public Footpath No.058 south eastwards for a distance of approximately 170m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Stockalls Lane, C16 Great Munden, Munden Road, Mill Lane, C95 (unnamed road) and Stockalls Lane.
The Order is needed because utility repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 17 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

An alternative route will be via B1368 (Green End/Station Road/Wickham Hill/Buntingford Road), A10 (unnamed road/Buntingford Bypass), B1038 (Baldock Road/High Street/Hare Street Road/unnamed road) and B1368 (unnamed road/Dassels Hill/Dassels/Hay Street/Green End).
The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 5 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

An alternative route will be via Gladstone Road and Founceley Avenue.
ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 4 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath situated on west side of A10 Great Cambridge Road, Cheshunt from its junction with Brookfield Lane West north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Halfhide Lane, a distance of approximately 130m (“the Footpath”).
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north side of Brookfield Lane West and the footpath situated between No.23 Beeston Drive and No.37 Lower Meadow.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpath.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 27 February 2026 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Footpath.

The Order is needed because electrical service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 28 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF RIGHT TURN MOVEMENTS FROM A414 LONDON ROAD INTO MANGROVE ROAD, HERTFORD) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a right turn manoeuvre from the eastbound carriageway of A414 London Road into Mangrove Road, Hertford (“the Roads”), when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via A414 London Road, the John Tate Road/B1197 London Road roundabout and A414 London Road.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

1. that length of Gladstone Road, Hoddesdon from its junction with Rye Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 30m.
An alternative route will be via Rye Road, Stanstead Road, Burford Street, Old Essex Road, Stortford Road and Gladstone Road or via Gladstone Road, Stortford Road, Burford Street, A1170 (Dinant Link Road/Amwell Street), Duke Street, Stanstead Road and Rye Road.
2. that length of River Avenue, Hoddesdon from its junction with Rye Road southwards for a distance of approximately 30m.
An alternative route will be via Rye Road, Stanstead Road, Burford Street, Old Essex Road, Stortford Road and River Avenue or via River Avenue, Stortford Road, Burford Street, A1170 (Dinant Link Road/Amwell Street), Duke Street, Stanstead Road and Rye Road.
The Order is needed because gas main works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 2 March 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the Gascoyne Way Service Road, Hertford from a point 24m north east of its junction with A414 Gascoyne Way north eastwards for a distance of approximately 110m (“the Road”), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (HIGH OAK ROAD, KINGSWAY AND HITHER FIELD, WARE) (RESTRICTION OF WAITING) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council in order to improve road safety proposes under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce new waiting restrictions in parts of Ware as specified in the Schedule to this Notice.
