THE EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL

(A81 MILNGAVIE ROAD, BEARSDEN AND MAIN STREET, MILNGAVIE)

(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

On 26 February 2026 the East Dunbartonshire Council made the above named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works, and those vehicles requiring access to properties adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so) on that section of the A81 Milngavie Road, Bearsden and Main Street, Milngavie between the junction of the A81 Milngavie Road and Alexander Grove, Bearsden and the junction of Main Street, Milngavie and the Burnbrae Roundabout, Milngavie by reason of works being executed on or near this road.

This Order will operate from 06.00 hours on Sunday, 08 March 2026 until 23.59 hours on Sunday, 22 March 2026.

Alternative Routes

Alternative routes will be by way of the A81 Milngavie Road, MacFarlane Road, Canniesburn Toll Roundabout, the A809 Drymen Road, the A809 Stockiemuir Road, Bearsden; the B8050 Craigdhu Road, Park Road, Main Street, Woodburn Way, Station Road, the A81 Glasgow Road, the A807 Auchenhowie Road, Milngavie; and the B8049 Boclair Road, Bearsden, and these routes will be sign posted.

Local internal routes will also be sign posted.

Temporary Traffic Signals

As part of the above carriageway resurfacing works, temporary traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities, will also be used to control traffic movements on Burnbrae Roundabout, Milngavie, from Wednesday 18 March 2026 for approximately five days. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day. The use of temporary traffic signals may result in delays to traffic in the area.
