Portsmouth City Council (James Callaghan Drive) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.45) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 16th March 2026 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
JAMES CALLAGHAN DRIVE
From its junction with Portsdown Hill Road Roundabout to Portsdown Hill Road.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate CityFibre works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 16th March 2026 to 20th March 2026 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place overnight between 00:00 to 05:00.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from:
Portsdown Hill Road Roundabout, Southwick Road, Crooked Walk Lane, Portchester Lane; and
Southwick Hill Road, London Road, Northern Road, Spur Road Roundabout, Southampton Road, East Street, West Street, Portchester Road, Down End Road, Portsdown Hill Road; and
Southwick Road, B2177, School Road, Hoad's Hill Wickham Road, M27, Boarhunt Road, Swivelton Lane, Portsdown Hill Road.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion around the works.
