Norfolk - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Footpath Restrictions due to Works
What is happening?
SWAINSTHORPE – C179 Church Road from its junction with C179 The Warren Lane for 600m eastwards to facilitate new water connection works from 23rd to 25th February 2026 (may continue until 8th April 2026). Alternative route is via: Swainsthorpe Road, Church Road, Norwich Road, Ipswich Road, Mulbarton Road, Main Road, The Common, Rectory Lane, The Warren Lane (Mulbarton, Keswick and Intwood, Stoke Holy Cross, Swardeston, Caistor St. Edmund and Bixley, Swainsthorpe). The works promoter is Anglian Water.
TASBURGH – C514 Grove Lane from its junction with U7600 Saxlingham Lane for 310m southwards to facilitate BT telecoms civil works on 23rd February 2026 (may continue until 3rd February 2026). Alternative route is via: Low Road, Bungay Road, A140 Ipswich Road, Church Road, Grove Lane (Long Stratton, Tharston and Hapton, Tasburgh). The works promoter is BT.
TOPCROFT – C365 Barford Road from 230m east of its junction with C204 Barondole Lane for 30m eastwards to facilitate water meter exchange works on 23rd February 2026 (may continue until 6th April 2026). Alternative route is via: Barford Road, Spring Lane, Alburgh Road, B1527 Bungay Road, Hempnall Road, Short New Road, Church Road, B1332 Norwich Road, Low Road, Topcroft Street (Woodton, Hempnall, Bedingham, Hedenham, Topcroft). The works promoter is Anglian Water.

BURNHAM MARKET – B1155 Front Street from 5m west of its junction with Uiph Place for 220m westwards to facilitate carriageway and footway patching works from 24th to 25th February 2026 (may continue until 8th April 2026). Alternative route is via: Market Place, North Street, Uiph Place. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
DOCKING – B1454 Sedgeford Road from 10m west of its junction with C88 Docking Road for 400m westwards to facilitate carriageway patching works between 09:00 and 15:00 from 24th to 25th February 2026 (may continue until 8th April 2026). Alternative route is via: Sedgeford Road, Docking Road, Heacham Road, Redgate Hill, Kings Lynn Road, Cromer Road, Old Town Way, Old Hunstanton Road, Main Road, Thornham Road, High Street, Mill Road, Brancaster Road, Station Road, Well Street, Chequers Street (Titchwell, Old Hunstanton, Heacham, Thornham, Hunstanton, Holme-next-The-Sea, Brancaster, Sedgeford, Docking). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
EMNETH – C16 Edge Bank from 300m southeast of its junction with C13 Hungate Road for 25m eastwards to facilitate new head walls, parapet fencing and section of pipe works from 23rd February 2026 to 4th March 2026 (may continue until 15th April 2026). Alternative route is via: Edge Bank, Marsh Road, Hall Road, Wisbech Road, Outwell Road, Hollycroft Road, Gaultree Square, Hungate Road (Outwell, Emneth). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
HOLME-NEXT-THE-SEA – Norfolk Coast Path from 730m northwest of its joining with U22156 Staithe Lane for 120m north-westwards to facilitate structural repair works from 23rd February to 31st March 2026 (may continue until 22nd August 2026). Alternative route is via: N/A – steps will be provided to walk around the closure. The works promoter is Environment Agency.
KING’S LYNN – U20619 Graham Street from its junction with U20609 Extons Road for 30m southwards to facilitate the replacement of a stop tap from 24th to 26th February 2026 (may continue until 9th April 2026). Alternative route is via: Graham Street, Russell Street, Extons Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
NORTH CREAKE – C98 West Street from its junction with B1355 Burnham Road for 50m westwards to facilitate communication pipe repairs from 24th to 26th February 2026 (may continue until 9th April 2026). Alternative route is via: West Street, Stanhoe Road, Burnham Road, Docking Road, Church Walk, Market Place, North Street, Ulph Place, Creake Road (Burnham Market, Stanhoe, North Creake, Burnham Thorpe). The works promoter is Anglian Water.
SHOULDHAM THORPE – U21301 Coopers Lane from 10m south-west of its junction with U21301 South Road for 20m north-eastwards to facilitate meter exchange between 08:00 and 16:00 on 24th February 2026 (may continue until 7th April 2026). Alternative route is via: South Road, Shouldham Road, Middle Road, Church Lane, Lynn Road, Coopers Lane. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
WELNEY – U21024 Wisbech Road from its junction with B1100 March Road for 30m northwards to facilitate water mains laying scheme works from 18th February 2026 to 3rd April 2026 (may continue until 3rd October 2026). Alternative route is via: Wisbech Road, Main Road, Croft Road, Sixteen Foot Bank, Padgetts Road, March Road (Christchurch, Upwell, Welney). The works promoter is Anglian Water.
WORMEGAY – A134 Stoke Road from its junction with the A10 Lynn Roundabout for 1722m south-eastwards to facilitate carriageway repairs from 23rd February to 30th March 2026 (may continue until 30th September 2026). Alternative route is via: Stoke Road, Lynn Road, Downham Road, Bexwell Road, A10 Downham-Wimbotsham Bypass/Stow Bardolph Bypass (Watlington, Stow Bardolph, Stradsett, Downham Market, Wimbotsham, Ryston, Crimplesham, Wormegay, Tottenhill, Shouldham Thorpe, Runcton Holme). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by traffic of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
