What is happening?

Temporary Traffic Management Order of Various Roads, Weymouth

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 23 February 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 6 March 2026.

This Order will enable Wessex Water, safe access to carry out sewer repairs.

The effects of the Order will be;

[1] To impose temporary road closure on Maiden Street between its junctions with St Alban Street and Bond Street

[2] To revoke the one way restriction on Maiden Street between its junctions with Mitchell Street and St Alban Street for residents and business access only

[3] To impose temporary two way traffic flow on Maiden Street between its junctions with Mitchell Street and St Alban Street for residents and business access only

[4] To impose temporary no right turn on Market Street at its junction with Maiden Street

[5] To impose temporary no left turn on St Alban Street (eastbound) at its junction with Maiden Street

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using; Mitchell Street - East Street - The Esplanade.

Temporary Closure of Various Roads, Sydling St Nicholas

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along VARIOUS ROADS, SYDLING ST NICHOLAS; BACK LANE, SYDLING ST NICHOLAS, at its junction with Three Acres, for a distance of approximately 10 metres. THREE ACRES, SYDLING ST NICHOLAS, between its junction with Back Lane and number 1, Three Acres, a distance of approximately 15 metres.

The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 09 March 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 20 March 2026.

This Order will enable Wessex Water to repair partially collapsed sewer.

On this occasion there will be no specified alternative route for diverted traffic. Resident access will be maintained.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath 22/1, Studland

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Footpath SE22/1, Studland from grid reference SZ036 828 to grid reference SZ 036 830 a distance of approximately 160 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into operation on 6 March 2026 for a period of 26 weeks, but it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.

The order is needed to due to safety concerns as erosion is causing the cliff edge to collapse.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Diversion route will be provided across the car park and down the path at the northern end of the car park on the beach.

Temporary Closure of Various Roads, Weymouth

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles, cyclists and horse riders will be prohibited from proceeding along various Roads, Weymouth as listed:

[i] Spa Road between Dorchester Road and Queens Road;

[ii] Spa Road between Kings Road and Radipole Park Drive;

[iii] Queens Road between Spa Road and Coronation Road.

The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 2 March 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 2 April 2026. The works are programmed to commence from 2 March 2026 until 2 April 2026 in phases:

[i] Spa Road between 2 March 2026 - 20 March 2026 and

[ii] Queens Road between 16 March 2026 - 2 April 2026. Only one closure will be in place at a time.

This Order will enable SGN, safe access to carry out gas main replacement works.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.
