(BANBURY AREA) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that on 16 February 2026 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the order, which comes into force on 23 February is to replace the previous 30mph speed limit with a 20mph speed limit on the following lengths of road in Banbury:

1. A361 Southam Road – from its junction with the A361 North Bar Street, B4100 Warwick Road, and Castle Street northwards to a point 45 metres north if its junction with Coopers Gate,

2. A361 North Bar/Horsefair/South Bar – for its entire length.

3. B4100 Oxford Road from its junction with the A361 Bloxham Road/A361 South Bar, southwards to a point 40 metres south of Old Parr Road

4. A361 Bloxham Road from its junction with the A361 South Bar/B4100 Oxford Road, south-westwards to a point 25 metres northeast of its junction with Beargarden Road.

The Oxfordshire County Council (Banbury Area) (Speed Limits) (No.3) Order 2025 is revoked/replaced.

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Deddington, Hudson Street

Prohibition of Through Traffic Date of Order: 2/3/2026

Coming into force: 9/3/2026

This Order is being introduced because of water mains replacement works which are anticipated to take until 20/4/2026 to complete. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in that part of Hudson Street at its junction with High Street. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via the B4031, Hopcraft Lane, St Thomas Street, A4260 and Vice Versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T17026 / RMF)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Adderbury, Footpath 18 Closure

Date of Order: 10 July 2023

Came into force: 14 July 2023

This Order was made for public safety reasons for repairs to an unsafe bridge structure but funding allocation has delayed the works until the next financial year. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily Footpath 18 at the River Swere south of the Golf Club. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for pedestrian access to property up to the closure which is only accessible from the closed section of bridleway. There is no off-road alternative through route. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

This Order with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport will remain in force until 31 October 2027 or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T11458/RAG)
