What is happening?

CROYDON COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT, 1984, SECTION 14 AS AMENDED
THE ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991
AND ALL OTHER ENABLING POWERS
DOWNS ROAD & VIRGINIA ROAD, THORNTON HEATH
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC & PARKING
Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate gas main replacement works by SGN, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit traffic and parking in Downs Road and Virginia Road.
Whilst the said works are taking place:
a) Downs Road will be closed between its junctions with Virginia Road and Florida Road.
b) Virginia Road will be closed between its junction with Ingram Road and the common boundary of Nos. 86 and 88 Virginia Road.
c) Parking within the above section of Virginia Road will be suspended and waiting and loading restrictions will apply at any time.
During the closures the alternative routes for diverted traffic will be as detailed below.
• Via Virginia Road, Ingram Road and vice versa.
• Via Florida Road, Brickfield Road and Virginia Road.
• Via Stringfield Road, Carolina Road and Ingram Road.
The Order will come into operation on 02 March 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 26 April 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibition will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in carrying out the said works.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

HEATHHURST ROAD, SOUTH CROYDON
TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC
Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate sewer connection works, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic in Heathhurst Road, South Croydon.
Whilst the said works are taking place Heathhurst Road will be closed outside No. 1B Heathhurst Road.
During the closure, traffic will be diverted as detailed via Mayfield Road, Brambledown Road, and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 26 February 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed within eight days. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a vehicle being used to carry out the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a civil enforcement officer.

RIDDLESDOWN ROAD SLIP ROAD, PURLEY
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC
Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate drainage works, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic movements in Riddlesdown Road slip road.
Whilst the said works are taking place Riddlesdown Road slip road will be closed between its junction with the main carriageway of Riddlesdown Road, opposite No. 90 and the southern boundary of No. 79c.
During the closure access for residents will be maintained.
The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in conducting the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.
The Order will come into operation on 26 February 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed within approximately three weeks. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibition will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

WEST STREET, CROYDON
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC
Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate mains decommissioning works by SGN, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic movements in West Street, Croydon.
During the work West Street will be closed between its junctions with High Street, Croydon and Wandle Road.
Whilst the closure remains in force the alternative route for diverted traffic will be as detailed below.
• Via Wandle Road, Queen Street, Church Road, Lower Coombe Street and High Street.
The Order will come into operation on 02 March 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 15 March 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibition will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in conducting the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
