What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL :

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON VARIOUS ROADS IN ROYSTON) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) will be:-

1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Upper King Street, Royston from its junction with John Street north westwards, south westwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 180m.

An alternative route will be via High Street and Upper King Street.

2. The existing one way traffic system on High Street, Royston from its junction with Upper King Street north westwards to its junction with John Street, a distance of approximately 114m will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to travel in both directions within the length of road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because gas works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 9 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months.

However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE CAUSEWAY, THERFIELD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of the Causeway, Therfield from a point 61m north west of its junction with Pedlars Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 100m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via The Causeway, Police Row, Hay Green, Rooks Nest Lane, Sandon Road, C10 (unnamed road), C108 (unnamed road), Fears Green, North End, Kelshall Tops and The Causeway.

The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 11 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months.

However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
