What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS

COUNCIL (U5042, RECTORY LANE,

TORVER, C5020, SKELWITH BRIDGE,

C5019 CONISTON AND THE C5049

NEWBY BRIDGE) (TEMPORARY

TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

U5042, Rectory Lane, Torver, from a point approx. 280 metres south of its junction with the A593, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 110 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Rectory Lane (U5042), A593 and the A5084.

Duration: From 9th February 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROW/16983)

C5020, Skelwith Bridge, from a point approx. 150 metres in a north west of its junction with the U5019, extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of approx. 110 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C5020, A593, B5286 and the C5019.

Duration: From 18th February 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROW/17215)

C5019, Coniston, from a point approx. 650 metres north of its junction with the U5022, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 125 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C5019, B5286, B5285 and the U5015.

Duration: From 24th February 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROW/17285)

C5049, Newby Bridge, from a point approx. 710 metres north east of its junction with the U5222, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 100 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C5049, C5026, A590, C5024 and the U5220.

Duration: From 3rd March 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROW/17226)

The Order will come into operation on 9th February 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
