What is happening?

MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL
TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (AS AMENDED)

Notice is hereby given that the City Council has made the following Temporary Road Traffic Order(s):
ORDER NO. MCC147958901: The City of Manchester (Elbow Street, Levenshulme Ward)(Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic) Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Elbow Street. The alternative routes for traffic will be: Stockport Road, Chapel Street, Elbow Street. The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate New Water connection.
It is expected that the works will be in progress from 9th February 2026 to 11th February 2026. The order shall come into operation on 9th February 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.

The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Bank House Road, Carley Grove, Castlemere Road, Printon Avenue, Selston Road, Galvin Road, Sankey Grove, Sherwell Road, Northbrook Avenue, Melverley Road, Darliston Avenue, Brynford Avenue, Velmere Avenue, Weardale Road, Acre Top Road, Munn Road, Ruthin Avenue, Heathbank Road.
The alternative routes for traffic will be: Signed Locally. The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate Micro Asphalt resurfacing Scheme.
It is expected that the works will be in progress from 6th February 2026 to 24th February 2026. The order shall come into operation on 6th February 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Kevin Gillham.
