Suffolk, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984: Section 14

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The U4920 Sandpit Lane, Thurston

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U4920 Sandpit Lane, Thurston from the junction with School Road to the junction with Sandpit Drive to facilitate the installation of a fibre network. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be via: Sandpit Lane, Beyton Road, Barton Road, Station Hill, Norton Road, Sandpit Lane and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 05/02/2026 – 11/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The U4623 Captain Lane, Wetherden

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U4623 Captain Lane, Wetherden from 20 metres north of the railway track and 20 metres south of the railway track to facilitate a bridge examination. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be via: Ashfield Road. Wetherden Road, School Road, Long Thurlow Road, Wyverstone Road, Church Hill, Wyverstone Road, The Street, Rectory Road, Kates Lane, Captains Lane and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 10:00pm on 05/02/2026 – 5:00am on 06/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The U4033 Constitution Hill And U4029 Warrington Road, Ipswich

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads in the following phases:

1) U4033 Constitution Hill, Ipswich from no. 31 to Dale Hall Lane

U4029 Warrington Road, Ipswich from Constitution Hill to no. 31

2) U4033 Constitution Hill, Ipswich from Dale Hall Lane to Henley Road.

This is to facilitate a gas main replacement scheme. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be:

1. St Edmunds Road, Henley Road, the A1214, Graham Avenue and vice versa.

2. Henley Road, the A1214, Graham Avenue and vice versa.

It is intended that the closures will operate from:

1) 14/02/2026 – 23/02/2026

2) 23/02/2026 – 13/03/2026.

If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the B1066 The Row, Hartest from Somerton Road to Blind Lane to facilitate installation of a fibre network. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be via: the B1066, the A143, the A1302, the A134, the A1092, the B1066 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 14/02/2026 – 22/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The C446 School Road, Coddenham

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C446 School Road, Coddenham from Fern Cottage to Haysell House to facilitate overlaying telecoms infrastructure. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be via: Ipswich Road, Road from U4707 to U4729, Helmingham Road, the B1078 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 14/02/2026 – 22/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The U5959 School Road, Elmswell

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U5959 School Road, Elmswell from the junction with School Avenue to 144 metres eastbound to facilitate a new electricity connection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be via: Church Road, New Road, The Street and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 14/02/2026 – 27/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The C684 Nowton Road, Bury St Edmunds

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C684 Nowton Road, Bury St Edmunds from the junction with Plovers Way for 30 metres northbound and Bridleway 26 to facilitate a new sewer connection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be via: Cooper Lane, Bury Road, Lawshall Road, Bury Road, Green, Swanfield, the A143, the A1302 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 14/02/2026 – 22/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The U1726 Garden Lane, Manor Close, Rectory Lane And The U1728 Sandpit Lane, Worlingham

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads in the following phases:

  1. U1726 Garden Lane, Worlingham from 62 metres southeast of The Bridles for 128 metres southbound 

  2. U1726 Manor Close, Worlingham from the junction with College Lane for 230 metres north eastbound

  3. U1728 Sandpit Lane, Worlingham from 90 metres east of Sandpit Lane for 83 metres north eastbound 

This is to facilitate a gas main replacement. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion routes will be:

  1. Manor Close, Rectory Lane, Lowestoft Road and vice versa.

  2. Recotory Lane, Lowestoft Road and vice versa.

  3. Benacre Road, Ellough Road, College Lane and vice versa.

It is intended that the closures will operate from 14/02/2026 – 27/03/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads:

• C450 Main Road, Somersham from the Sports Pavilion to Somersham Village Hall

• U4415 Church Lane, Somersham from the junction with Main Road to The Pightle

This is to facilitate civil works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be: Somersham Road, Little Blakenham, Leather Bottle Hill, Somersham Road, Bramford, the B1113, Grinstead Hill, the B1078, Willisham Road, Main Road, Willisham, Willisham Hall Road, Ipswich Road, Main Road, Nettlestead and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 14/02/2026 – 22/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).
