New Street - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over that length of New Street, Morecambe from for a distance of approximately 10 metres either side of property no.18.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative between 0800 hours and 1600 hours on Monday 9th February 2026 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is one way via:-
Victoria Street – Northumberland Street – Central Drive and Edward Street.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow long sided disconnection of old lead supply and replacement with a new connection to the 3” water main to be carried out by Network Plus on Behalf of United Utilities.
