Gib Lane - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?

(GIB LANE, HOGHTON, CHORLEY BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Gib Lane, Hoghton from a point 20 metres either side of the railway bridge crossing.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 1000 hours until 1500 hours on Wednesday 18th February 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Gib Lane – A675 Hoghton Lane – A675 The Straits – A675 Hoghton Lane – A675 Blackburn Road – A675 Cann Bridge Street – A675 Higher Walton Road – A675 Victoria Road - B6230 Church Brow - B6230 Cuerdale Lane – Roach Road – Gib Lane and Vice Versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow a detailed structure examination of the railway bridge to be carried out.
