What is happening?

(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.5) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, on 2nd February 2026 made the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Order will come into operation on 9th March 2026 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Eaton Green Road from its junction with Vauxhall Way to its junction with Frank Lester Way. Diversion route via Eaton Green Road, Wigmore Lane, Crawley Green Road, Vauxhall Way. Anticipated date and times of closure 9th March 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Kimpton Road from its junction with Loverose Way to its junction with Vauxhall Plant Roundabout. Diversion route via Vauxhall Way, Crawley Green Road, St Marys Roundabout, Windmill Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 12th March 2026, 8pm to 5am.
Marsh Road from its junction with Mostyn Road to its junction with Memorial Road. Diversion route via Bramingham Road, Icknield Way, Barton Road, Montrose Avenue, Woodland Avenue, Leagrave Road. Alternatively, via Linden Road, Oakley Road, Grange Avenue, Marsh Road. Alternatively, via Oakley Road, Waller Avenue, Leagrave Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 16th March 2026, 8pm to 5am.
The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable Volker Highways to carry out carriageway resurfacing works. For the period of the closure, the Order will also provide for “No Waiting and No Loading” restrictions to apply within the roads and lengths of roads closed for said works. Any vehicle deemed to be in contravention of the restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice and removed. This will be in force when traffic signs, barriers or cones are displayed. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic where available will be marked by signs.
