Gloucestershire – Multiple Temporary Road and Footpath Closures due to Works

TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND RESTRICTION OF VARIOUS ROADS
(COMPTON ABDALE AND COLN ST DENNIS PARISHES) COTSWOLD DISTRICT

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close and restrict the lengths of roads as detailed in the Schedule below.

SCHEDULE

The reason for the closures and restrictions is for carriageway resurfacing works.

There will be no stopping or waiting and no loading permitted throughout the duration of the said works.

The said roads are expected to be closed and restricted, during various times, on a rolling programme commencing 2nd February 2026 when the presence of approved signage will indicate where the closures and restrictions are in force. Further advance warning of dates/times will be displayed on site prior to the closures and restrictions taking effect. This Order can permit the closure and restriction of the roads in any order, or simultaneously as required. It is anticipated all works will be completed by 31st March 2026.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE 400937 ROAD FROM MOORS FARM TO DEAN FARM
(COLN ST ALDWYNS PARISH) COTSWOLD DISTRICT

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the 400937 Road from Moors Farm to Dean Farm from outside of the property known as ‘Coltsmoor Cottage’ to outside of the property known as ‘Dean Farm’ for a distance of approximately 918 metres.

The reason for the said closure is for carriageway patching works.

The said road is expected to be closed from 08:30hrs to 15:30hrs on 2nd February 2026 only. However, if the said works are not completed by this date the Order may remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE 407088 CRANHAMS LANE (CIRENCESTER TOWN)
COTSWOLD DISTRICT

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the 407088 Cranhams Lane Road, from its junction with ‘Haygarth Close’ to its junction with the ‘Cirencester Bridgway 30’ for a distance of approximately 92 metres.

The reason for the said closure is for carriageway patching works.

The said road is expected to be closed between 09:30hrs and 15:30hrs on 3rd February 2026 only. However, if the works are not completed by this date the Order can remain in force for up to eighteen months or until the said works have been completed, whichever is sooner.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE C149 DISUSED AIRFIELD TO CHEAP STREET
(CHEDWORTH PARISH) COTSWOLD DISTRICT

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of the C149 Disused Airfield to Cheap Street from its junction with Cheap Street to its junction with The Smalls for a distance of approximately 20 metres.

The reason for the said closure is for works to install pressure monitoring equipment.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FOOTPATHS BKD/34 AND BKD/28 KEMPSFORD COTSWOLD DISTRICT
PLEASE NOTE THIS NOTICES REPLACES THE ONE ISSUED 15th JANUARY 2026 DUE TO END DATE AMENDMENT

NOTICE is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport has extended the Order to close temporarily under Sections 14, 15 and 16 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 (as amended) part of Public Footpaths BKD/34 and BKD/28 as described in the Schedule below.

The said closure is necessary to allow for construction works.

This temporary closure Order came into force on the 1st March 2018 for a period of six months and as the said works were not completed in the allowed time, subsequently extended by the Secretary of State for Transport to 1st March 2026. However, it is anticipated the said works will not be completed in this timeframe and therefore the Secretary of State has now granted a further extension until 1st July 2027 or until the said works are completed whichever is earlier.

The alternative route runs from Whelford Road to Public Footpath BKD/27 and is marked on site.

Pedestrian access to adjoining properties and emergency access will be maintained for the duration of the works.

The Schedule

Public Footpath BKD/34 in the Parish of Kempsford is to be temporarily closed from its junction with Whelford Road and running in a generally southerly direction for approximately 621 metres to a point where it meets the RAF Fairford Boundary Fence.

Public Footpath BKD/28 in the Parish of Kempsford is to be temporarily closed from its junction with Public Footpath BKD/34 and running in a generally east easterly direction for approximately 602 metres to its junction with Public Footpath BKD/27.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF 401497 CHAVENAGE LANE

(TETBURY UPTON PARISH) COTSWOLD DISTRICT

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of 401497 Chavenage Lane from its junction with Charlton Lane to its junction with Hampton Street Tetbury to Hermits Cove Plantation for a distance of approximately 203 metres.

The reason for the said closure is for drainage works.

EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE 501194 LEVEL CROSSING FRAMPTON MANSELL TO WHITEHALL BRIDGE (SAPPERTON PARISH) COTSWOLD DISTRICT

Gloucestershire County Council has by this emergency notice closed temporarily under Sections 14, 15 and 16 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) part of the 501194 Level Crossing Frampton Mansell to Whitehall Bridge Road from its junction with Daneway Lane to the Level Crossing for a distance of approximately 1,719 metres.

The Road falls in Sapperton Parish in the Cotswold District and in the County of Gloucestershire;

The reason for the closure is for public safety reasons, due to dangerous carriageway surface conditions.

This Notice comes into force on the 12th January 2026 and will continue for up to 21 days. However, if the works to remedy the problem have not been completed during this timescale it will be necessary to either extend the closure Notice for a further 21 days and/or make an Order. This Order, if made, could authorise the closure of the Road for up to eighteen months from the date of this Notice.

Emergency access will be maintained. Pedestrian access will not be maintained due to there being no footway at this location.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF C180 WATERMOOR ROAD
(CIRENCESTER TOWN) COTSWOLD DISTRICT

Gloucestershire County Council, as traffic authority, intends to make an Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to temporarily close part of C180 Watermoor Road, from its junction with Queens Lane to its junction with the Avenue for a distance of approximately 132 metres.

The reason for the said closure is for a repair an electrical fault.
