Warrington – Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Works

What is happening?

WARRINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Notice is hereby given that, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, the Council intends to make Orders under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

A49 London Rd, Appleton (Phase 3) (Prohibition of Driving & Clearway)
Temporary Order 2026
The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway on A49 London Rd from its jct. with Duldow Green Rd to its jct. with Longwood Rd. The Order will be effective from 7th April 2026 for 6 weeks, between 7pm & 1am. The alternative route will be via Lyon’s Ln, Broom Ave, Longwood Rd & vice versa. The restrictions are required for Carriageway Resurfacing.

Church Ln, Grappenhall (Prohibition of Driving & Clearway) (Easter)
Temporary Order 2026
The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway on Church Ln from its jct. with Broad Ln to its jct. with Glebe Ave. The Order will be effective from 7th April 2026 for 2 weeks. The alternative route will be via Church Ln, A56 Chester Rd, A50 Knutsford Rd, Bellhouse Ln & vice versa or via Broad Ln, Grappenhall Ln, A50 Cliff Ln, A50 Knutsford Rd, Bellhouse Ln & vice versa. The restrictions are required to allow continuing works to Heritage Area reconstructing & relaying cobbled road surface, including work to improve drainage.

Eagle Brow, Brookfield Rd, Dane Bank Rd & Dane Bank Rd East, Lymm (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2026
The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving as follows:
Eagle Brow from its jct. with Booths Hill Rd to its jct. with Brookfield Rd; Brookfield Rd from its jct. with Eagle Brow to its jct. with Dane Bank Rd; Dane Bank Rd from its jct. with Brookfield Rd to its jct. with Dane Bank Rd East; Dane Bank Rd East from its jct. with Dane Bank Rd to its jct. with Dane Bank Rd East. The Order will be effective from 2nd March 2026 for 18 weeks, with the works being carried out in phases.
The alternative routes will be as follows:
Eagle Brow via Higher Ln, Brookfield Rd & vice versa; Brookfield Rd via Eagle Brow, The Cross, New Rd, Dane Bank Rd East, Dane Bank Rd & vice versa; Dane Bank Rd via Brookfield Rd, Eagle Brow, The Cross, New Rd & vice versa; Dane Bank Rd East via Brookfield Rd Eagle Brow, The Cross, New Rd & vice versa. The closure is required to allow Scottish Power to install new HV cables.

Temporary Order 2026
The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving as follows: St. Peters Way from its jct. with Orford Ln to its jct. with Battersby Ln; Greenings Court from its jct. with Rylands Dr to its jct. with Battersby Ln; Scott St from its jct. with Chorley St to its jct. with Battersby Ln. The Order will be effective from 2nd March 2026 for 10 weeks, with the works being carried out in phases. Alternative routes will be signed on site. The closure is required to allow Scottish Power to install a new HV cable.

The effect of which will be to introduce the following: Prohibition of Driving & Clearway: Bernard Ave for its entire length; Clydesdale Rd for its entire length; Greenfields Ave from the jct. with Guernsey Cl to the jct. with Dingleway.
The Order will be effective from 6th April 2026 for 6 weeks, between 8:30am & 5:30pm. The alternative routes will be as follows: Bernard Ave via Greenfields Ave, Dingleway, Clydesdale Rd & vice versa; Clydesdale Rd via Dingleway, Bridge Ln & vice versa; Greenfields Ave via Dingleway, Bridge Ln & vice versa. The restrictions are required for footway surfacing.

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving as follows: Burford Ln from its jct. with Warrington Ln to its jct. with Stage Ln; Stage Ln from its jct. with Burford Ln to its jct. with Oughtrington Cres; Oughtrington Cres from its jct. with Stage Ln to its jct. with Oughtrington Ln; Oughtrington Ln from its jct. with Oughtrington Cres to its jct. with Longbutt Ln; Sandy Ln from its jct. with Stage Ln to its jct. with Rushgreen Rd.
The Order will be effective from 2nd March 2026 for 18 weeks, with the works being carried out in phases. The alternative routes will be as follows: Burford Ln via Higher Ln, Brookfield Rd, Eagle Brow, The Cross, New Rd, Rushgreen Rd, Birchbrook Rd & vice versa; Stage Ln via Mill Ln, Birchbrook Rd, Sandy Ln & vice versa;
Oughtrington Cres via Higher Ln, Brookfield Rd, Eagle Brow, The Cross, New Rd, Rushgreen Rd, Birchbrook Rd, Sandy Ln & vice versa; Oughtrington Ln via Higher Ln, Brookfield Rd, Eagle Brow, The Cross, New Rd, Rushgreen Rd, Birchbrook Rd, Sandy Ln & vice versa; Sandy Ln via Birchbrook Rd, Mill Ln, Stage Ln & vice versa. The closure is required to allow Scottish Power to install a new HV cable.

The effect of which is to introduce a prohibition of driving on Arley Ave from its jct. with East Ave to its jct. with Sandy Ln. The Order will be effective from 9th February 2026 for 3 days. The alternative route will be via East Ave, Sandy Ln & vice versa. The closure is required to allow United Utilities to install a new water connection.

(Prohibition of Driving & Footpath Closure) Temporary Order 2026
The effect of which is as follows: Prohibition of Driving: Kingfisher Cl from Kingfisher Cl Segregated Footpath to the limit of adopted highway;
Footpath Closure: Kingfisher Cl Segregated Footpath to the side of 27 Kingfisher Cl.
The Order will be effective from 16th February 2026 for 3 days, between 9:30am & 2:30pm. An alternative route for the Footpath Closure will be signed on site. The restrictions are required to allow Openreach to install ducting.

Smith St (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2026
The effect of which is to introduce a prohibition of driving on Smith St for its entire length. The Order will be effective from 9th February 2026 for 3 days. The closure is required to allow United Utilities to carry out sewer repairs.

St Bridget's Cl, Poulton North (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2026
The effect of which is to introduce a prohibition of driving on St Bridgets Cl fronting properties 12 to 14. The Order will be effective from 13th February 2026 for 5 days, between 9:30am & 2:30pm. The closure is required to allow Openreach to install new ducting.

Various Rd’s (Various Restrictions) (BSIP Phase 3) Temporary Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Council made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on 9th October 2025. The effect of which is as follows:
Prohibition of Driving: Winwick Rd from its jct. with Long Ln to its jct. with Pinners Brow;
Long Ln from its jct. with Winwick Rd to its jct. with Fisher Ave.
Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (A50 Long Ln/Orford Green) (7.5 Tonne Weight Limit) Order 2007 in so far as it relates to: A50 Long Ln (Eastbound) from the A49 Winwick Rd to the west side of its jct. with Fisher Ave; A50 Orford Green (Westbound) from its jct. with Hilden Place to the east side of its jct. with the south-eastern end of Birtles Rd.
The Order was effective from 27th October 2025 for 14 weeks, between 7pm & 6am, however due to delays on site the restrictions are now required to remain in place until 31st March 2026. The phase of works, alternative routes & reason for the works remains the same as previously advertised.

The temporary restrictions will be in place as & when the signs are in place on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.
