Suffolk - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Maintenance and Utility Works

What is happening?

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF

BRIDLEWAY 39 AND 35, BURY ST EDMUNDS AND ROUGHAM

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following bridleways:

* Bridleway 39, Bury St Edmunds from Rougham Hill for 577 metres eastbound to Bridleway 35, Rougham

* Bridleway 35, Rougham from the end of Bridleway 39, Bury St Edmunds for 584 metres eastbound.

This is to facilitate cabling works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

There is no diversion route.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 09/02/2026 - 18/03/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 6 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF

THE U1033 LOWER ORWELL STREET, IPSWICH

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U1033 Lower Orwell Street, Ipswich from 40 metres south of Star Lane for 75 metres northbound to facilitate tree/vegetation removal works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion routes will be:

* Eastbound: Star Lane, Fore Street and no vice versa

* Westbound: Fore Street, Orwell Place, Foundation Street, Star Lane and no vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 10/02/2026 - 12/02/2026 from 8am - 5pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U1018 ELM STREET, IPSWICH

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U1018 Elm Street, Ipswich from Black Horse Lane to Museum Street to facilitate access to manhole for cabling works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Elm Street, Civic Drive, Princes Street, Museum Street and no vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 09/02/2026 - 14/02/2026 from 9pm - 6am but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND SUSPENSION OF PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES WITH EXEMPTIONS ON PART OF

THE U5018 HANDFORD CUT, IPSWICH

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U5018 Handford Cut, Ipswich from no. 2 to no. 8 for 20 metres southbound to facilitate a stop tap replacement. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be London Road, Handford Road and vice versa.

For the duration of this closure there will also be a suspension of the prohibition of Motor Vehicles with Exemptions on the U5018 Handford Cut, Ipswich to allow access and egress.

It is intended that these measures will operate from 09/02/2026 - 10/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF

THE U3340 LOWER ROAD, IPSWICH AND WESTERFIELD

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads:

* U3340 Lower Road, Ipswich from Henley Road to Lower Road, Westerfield

* U3340 Lower Road, Westerfield from Lower Road, Ipswich to Three Gables.

This is to facilitate fibre ducting works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Westerfield Road, Valley Road, Henley Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 10/02/2026 - 02/03/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF

THE ROMSEY ROAD UNASSOCIATED FOOTWAY, BURY ST EDMUNDS

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the Romsey Road Unassociated Footway, Bury St Edmunds from no. 18 to no. 20 to facilitate laying duct in footway/verge. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

The diversion route will be Pembroke Road Unassociated Footway, Glastonbury Road, Abbotsbury Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 09/02/2026 - 13/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U1301 KINGS LANE, WESTON

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U1301 Kings Lane, Weston from the level crossing for 20 metres eastbound and 20 metres westbound to facilitate crossing inspection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Redisham Road, Cromwell Road, London Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 11pm on 09/02/2026 - 5.30am on 10/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF

THE C450 MAIN ROAD, SOMERSHAM

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C450 Main Road, Somersham in the following phases:

    1. from the junction with Hall Lane to the junction with Church Lane

  1. from the junction with Church Lane to Somersham Road.

    This is to facilitate drainage jetting and investigation works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The diversion route will be Somersham Road Little Blakenham, Leather Bottle Hill, Somersham Road Bramford, the B1113, Grinstead Hill, the B1078, Willisham Road, Main Road Willisham, Willisham Hall Road, Ipswich Road, Main Road Nettlestead and vice versa.

    It is intended that the closure will operate from 09/02/2026 - 13/02/2026 from 10am - 2.30pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

    THE C486 MILL LANE, CREETING ST PETER

    Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C486 Mill Lane, Creeting St Peter from 185 metres southeast of footpath 13 for 30 metres south eastbound to facilitate water works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The diversion route will be Gateway Boulevard, the A1120, the A140, the B1078 and vice versa.

    It is intended that the closure will operate on 10/02/2026 from 9.30am - 3.30pm. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

    TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF

    THE U3202 TENTH ROAD, BUCKLESHAM

    Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U3202 Tenth Road, Bucklesham from Cozy Camping for 20 metres westbound to facilitate a water meter maintenance. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The diversion route will be The Heath, Main Road and vice versa.

    It is intended that the closure will operate on 09/02/2026. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

    TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND SUSPENSION OF

    7.5 TONNE WEIGHT RESTRICTION ON PART OF THE B1070 FROM THE C437 TO THE C465, B1070 BENTON STREET, BENTON END, THE STREET AND UPPER STREET, RAYDON, HADLEIGH AND LAYHAM

    Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the B1070 from the C437 to the C465, Raydon from 100 metres northwest of Crosswinds for 200 metres north westbound to facilitate pole testing. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The diversion route will be the B1070, the A12, the A1214, the A1071, the B1070 and vice versa.

    For the duration of this closure, there will be a suspension of the 7.5 tonne weight restriction on the:

    * B1070 Benton Street, Hadleigh

    * B1070 Benton End, Hadleigh

    * B1070 The Street, Layham

    * B1070 Upper Street, Layham.

    It is intended that these measures will operate on 08/02/2026 from 9.30am - 2.30pm. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

    TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U8404 MANOR ROAD, ELMSETT

    Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U8404 Manor Road, Elmsett from the entrance to Manor Farm for 40 metres westbound to facilitate a new water connection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The diversion route will be Manor Road, The Street, Whatfield Road, Elmsett Road, Naughton Road, Boarded Barn Road and vice versa.

    It is intended that the closure will operate from 09/02/2026 - 11/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

    TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTION ON PART OF

    THE U3622 SADDLEMAKERS LANE AND

    THE A12 MELTON, BREDFIELD AND MELTON

    Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U3622 Saddlemakers Lane, Bredfield from the junction with the A12 for 40 metres eastbound and the A12 Melton, Melton at layby north of Woods Lane roundabout will be closed to motor vehicles to facilitate gas mains replacement works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    Access will be available for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The diversion route will be the A12, the B1078, the B1069, the A1152 and vice versa.

    For the duration of this closure there will also be a 30mph speed restriction on the A12 Melton, Melton from the junction with the B1438 to the junction with Woods Lane.

    This order continues in force the emergency measures operating since 10/01/2026.

    It is intended that these measures will operate until 07/06/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

    TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C749 ELLIS STREET, BOXFORD

    Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C749 Ellis Street, Boxford from Premier Garage to the junction with Clubs Lane to facilitate water meter maintenance. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The diversion route will be Broad Street, Church Street, School Hill, the A1071, Sand Hill, Ellis Street and vice versa.

    It is intended that the closure will operate on 10/02/2026 from 9.30am - 2.30pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

    THE A144 HALESWORTH ROAD, WENHASTON WITH MELLS HAMLET

    Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the A144 Halesworth Road, Wenhaston with Mells Hamlet from the level crossing for 20 metres eastbound and 20 metres westbound to facilitate inspection of the level crossing. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The diversion route will be the A145, the A146, the A143, the A144 and vice versa.

    It is intended that the closure will operate from 11:55pm on 10/02/2026 to 5.25am on 11/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

    The diversion route will be Levington Road, Ipswich Road, Nacton Road, Ransomes Way, Felixstowe Road and vice versa.

    It is intended that the closure will operate from 09/02/2026 - 13/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

    This is to facilitate fibre ducting works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    The diversion routes will be:

      1. Stoney Road, Bonds Corner, Market Hill, Grundisburgh Road, Woodbridge Road, The Green and vice versa

    1. Bonds Corner, Market Hill, Grundisburgh Road, Woodbridge Road, The Green, Stoney Road and vice versa.

    It is intended that the closures will operate from:

      1. 09/02/2026 - 26/02/2026

    1. 27/02/2026 - 05/03/2026.

      If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).
