What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath N46/20, Pulham

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath N46/20, Pulham from grid reference ST 731 077 (point A on the map below) to grid reference ST 725 075 (Point B on map below) a distance of approximately 650 metres.

The Notice is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 11th February 2026, but it will remain in force for 26 weeks and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.

This Order is needed due to health and safety reasons related to the construction of planning permission VOC/2024/05918.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: from point A (grid ref ST 731 077) head northeast along footpath N46/20 to Boywood farm, then turn southwest along footpath N49/19 until point C (grid ref ST726 0650.

Then turn Northwest along footpath N46/17 to point D (grid ref ST723067). Then turn roughly north along public bridleway S10/18 to point E (grid ref ST718 073), then turn west along N49/4 to point B (grid ref ST725 075) or follow blue dotted line on map below. Revise route applies.

Temporary Closure of The Common, Hazelbury Bryan

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along The Common, Hazelbury Bryan from junction with B3143 to junction with C20 Partway Lane (in both directions), a distance of approximately 2760 metres.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 18th February 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 24th February 2026.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Traffic Management Order, C13 Dinahs Hollow, Melbury Abbas

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise likelihood of danger to highway users.

The Order comes in to operation on 24th January 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 31st December 2026.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to undertake year long bank stabilisation works at Dinahs Hollow.

The effect of the Order is as follows:

[1] To impose temporary road closure on C13 Dinahs Hollow, Melbury Abbas & Cann from Gore Clump junction to junction with B3081 (in both directions), a distance of approximately 1980 metres. However access will be maintained for residents, deliveries and emergency services between Gore Clump and West Lane.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections and will take traffic via A350. In addition there will be a separate HGV diversion for southbound traffic via A30 Shaftesbury to Henstridge, A357 from Henstridge to Durweston.

To facilitate the diversion and safe travel around the network the following measures will be in place:

[2] to impose a temporary 20mph speed limit on the following roads at such times and to such extent as indicated by the traffi c signs:

[i] A350, Iwerne Minster from a point approximately 175 metres to the south of Oakwood Drive to a point approximately 75 metres to the north of Clayesmore School Entrance; [ii] A350, Sutton Waldron from a point approximately 175 metres to the south of The Street to a point approximately 265 metres to the north of The Street; [iii] A350, Fontmell Magna from a point approximately 30 metres south of Sutton View to a point approximately 150 metres north of private road to Croft Farm; [iv] A350, Compton Abbas from a point approximately100 metres south of Lower Lane to a point approximately 30 metre north of Chapel Hill.

[3] To impose a temporary 30mph speed limit on the following roads at such times and to such extent as indicated by the traffic signs: [i] A350, Iwerne Stepleton from a point approximately 100 metres south of Smugglers Lane to a point approximately 635 metres south of Main Street.

[4] To impose temporary one way order on the following roads as indicated by signs on site: [i] White Pit Lane, East Melbury from junction with B3081 to junction with C13 traffic will be prohibited from travelling southbound; [ii] School Lane & Quarry Lane, Melbury Abbas from junction with C13 to junction with West Lane traffic will be prohibited from travelling westbound; [iii] West Lane, Melbury Abbas from junction with C13 to junction with Quarry Lane traffic will be prohibited from travelling eastbound; [iv] Mill Hollow Lane, Melbury Abbas from junction B3081 to junction with West Lane traffic will be prohibited from travelling Northbound.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath N69/20, Motcombe

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath N69/20, Motcombe between grid reference ST81760 26240 and grid reference ST82135 27171, a distance of approximately 1040 metres.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 7 February 2026 for a period of 26 weeks.

This Order is required to allow Network Rail to close the footpath over the railway to ensure public safety in the interim, whilst works are undertaken for the permanent diversion.

An alternative route will be provided.

The Dorset Council (Lenthay Road, Sherborne) (School Street)
(Prohibition Of Motor Vehicles) (Experimental Order) 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Council of Dorset has made the above-mentioned Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.

When the Experimental Order comes into operation on the 2nd February 2026 the effect will be to prohibit the driving of motor vehicles on a section of Lenthay Road, Sherborne during the hours of 2.45pm until 3.30pm on every school day.

The reasons for proceeding by way of experimental order is to assess the effects of the changes before Dorset Council considers whether the provisions of the Experimental Traffic Regulation Order shall continue in force indefinitely. Relevant exemptions will apply where appropriate and as necessary in accordance with the provisions of the Order.
