A27 TRUNK ROAD
(DURRINGTON TO CROSSBUSH)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A27 Trunk Road in the County of West Sussex, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road by contractors working on behalf of Cityfibre.

The effect of the Order would be to: -

1.   authorise the overnight closure of the road leading to the eastbound carriageway of the A27 at Clapham Interchange (A280).

2.   authorise the 24-hour closure of all lay-bys adjacent to the westbound carriageway of the A27 between its junction with Ivydore Avenue, Durrington and Crossbush Interchange (A284).

There would also be phased inside and outside lane closures on the carriageway described in 2. above.

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake cabling and all associated works.

It is expected that the work would last for 2 weeks starting on Monday 23rd February 2026. Night-time closures would start at 20:00 hours for 10 hours (maximum period). Please consult National Highways website for further details.

The Order would come into force on  21st February 2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Traffic affected by the slip closure would be diverted westbound on the A27 to Crossbush Interchange (A284) and return.

The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
