What is happening?
THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL Bempton Lane Level Crossing, Bempton
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any person from causing any vehicle to proceed/proceeding along Bempton Lane Level Crossing, Bempton and 20 metres either side of the level crossing commencing 18 February 2026
22:00 hours until 19 February 2026
06:30 hours. The reason for the closure is to enable the proposed Bempton Lane Level Crossing, Bempton changing sleepers and timber works, to be carried out and completed in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of the public. It is anticipated that the works will be completed within 9 hours. The alternative route for traffic affected by the Order is via: Bempton Lane, B1255 Marton Road, Scarborough Road South, Scarborough Road Roundabout, A165 Scarborough Road, A165 Scarborough Road Roundabout, East Riding of Yorkshire boundary to A165 Reighton Roundabout, A165 Reighton Roundabout to the East Riding of Yorkshire boundary B1229 Speeton Gate, B1229 Speeton Gate, Buckton Gate, Bempton CP, Grindale CP, Reighton CP, Bridlington CP, Bridlington Central and Old Town Ward, Bridlington North Ward The road will be closed to all through traffic but access will be maintained for emergency vehicles. The Order will commence on 18 February 2026 and continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
