What is happening?

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C320 NACTON ROAD, IPSWICH

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C320 Nacton Road, Ipswich from Norman Crescent for 30 metres southbound to facilitate a new gas connection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the A1189, the A1156 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 07/02/2026 - 08/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C643 BARDWELL ROAD, SAPISTON

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C643 Bardwell Road, Sapiston from 15 metres west of Hilly Close for 40 metres westbound to facilitate a new gas connection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the A1088, Rushford Road, Euston Road, Spaldings Chair Hill, Rushford Road, Coney Weston, Thetford Road, Coney Weston Road, Church Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 07/02/2026 - 08/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C450 MAIN ROAD AND U4415 CHURCH LANE, SOMERSHAM

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the following roads:

  • C450 Main Road, Somersham from Pipers Waite to The Forge Bungalow

  • U4415 Church Lane, Somersham from the junction with Main Road to The Pightle.

    This is to facilitate ducting works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

    Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

    The diversion routes will be:

For Main Road – Somersham Road, Little Blakenham, Leather Bottle Hill, Somersham Road, Bramford, the B1113, Grinstead Hill, the B1078, Willisham Road, Mai Road, Willisham, Willisham Hall Road, Ipswich Road, Main Road, Nettlestead and vice versa.

For Church Lane – Flowton Road, Blood Hill, Elmsett Road, Ipswich Road, Main Road, Nettlestead and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 07/02/2026 - 08/02/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (PARISHES OF ILKETSHALL ST LAWRENCE AND SPEXHALL) (HOGG LANE) (C939) (30MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 202-

Suffolk County Council proposes to make the above order for the Parishes of Ilketshall St Lawrence and Spexhall under Section 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which would be to extend the existing 30 mph speed limit on Hogg Lane from a point 257 metres north of its junction with Stone Street (A144) for a distance of 176 metres in a north-easterly direction.

Copies of the draft order, map showing the roads affected and the council’s reasons for the proposals, may be seen with advance notice at the address below, 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday; also at Halesworth Library, Bridge Street, Halesworth IP19 8AD, Monday: 9am - 1pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: 9am - 5pm, Thursday: closed; Sunday: 10am - 3pm and Beccles Library, Blyburgate, Beccles NR34 9TB, Monday - Thursday and Saturday: 9.30am - 5pm, Friday: 9.30am - 6pm and Sunday 10am - 4pm.

Objections and any other representations relating to these proposals, specifying the grounds on which they are made, must reach Suffolk County Council Legal Services at the address below or at: thea.philip@suffolk.gov.uk no later than 18/02/2026.
