What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A416 KINGS ROAD, BERKHAMSTED) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A416 Kings Road, Berkhamsted from a point in line with the south western boundary of No.22 Kings Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 26m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via A416 Kings Road, A4251

(High Street/London Road), A41 (unnamed road) and A416

(Chesham Road/Kingshill Way/Kings Road) or via A416

(Kings Road/Kingshill Way), A41 (unnamed road), A4251

(London Road/High Street) and A416 Kings Road or via A4251 (High Street/Gossoms End/High Street/Tring Road),

A41 (unnamed road) and A416 (Kingshill Way/Kings Road). The Order is needed because water main repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road. If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 16 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CASTLE HILL, BERKHAMSTED) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Castle Hill, Berkhamsted from its junction with Brownlow Road north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Murray Road, a distance of approximately 419m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Brownlow Road, Bridgewater Road and Murray Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 16 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road. (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE FOOTPATH SITUATED

BETWEEN NO.438 AND NO.442 LONG CHAULDEN,

HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath situated between No.438 and No.442 Long Chaulden, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Long Chaulden south eastwards and southwards to its junction with Parkwood Drive, a distance of approximately 92m (“the Footpath”).

An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the south side of Long Chaulden and the footway situated on the west and north sides of Parkwood Drive. The Order is needed because electrical works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpath.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 14 February 2026 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Footpath. (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CHURCH ROAD, POTTEN END) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Church Road, Potten End from its junction with The Front southwards to its junction with The Common, a distance of approximately 110m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via The Front and The Common. The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing gas main is proposed to be executed on or near the Road. If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 16 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE DENES, HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of The Denes, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Pinecroft north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Barnacres Road, a distance of approximately 76m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Pinecroft and Barnacres Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 16 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF SHOOTERSWAY, BERKHAMSTED) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Shootersway, Berkhamsted from a point 360m south east of its northernmost junction with Rossway Lane south eastwards for a distance of approximately 50m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Shootersway, Cock Grove, Rossway Lane and Shootersway.

The Order is needed because utility service connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road. The Order has been made and shall come into force on 2 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN TRING, FLAMSTEAD AND HEMEL HEMPSTEAD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):1. that length of Hollyfield Close, Tring from its junction with Hollyfield south eastwards for its entire length. There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

2.  that length of Old Watling Street, Flamstead from its junction with A5183 Dunstable Road north eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 2051m. An alternative route will be via A5183 (Dunstable Road/ London Road).

3.  that length of Tannsfield Drive/Tannsmore Close, Hemel Hempstead from its junction with Berrymead north eastwards, south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Orchard Close, a distance of approximately 206m.

An alternative route will be via Berrymead, Ellingham Road and Orchard Close.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 2 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads. THE HERTFORDSHIRE (CHESHAM ROAD, WIGGINTON)

(40 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council in order to improve road safety proposes under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce a new 40 mph speed limit restriction in part of Chesham Road, Wigginton as specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

Documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposals may be viewed from 28 January 2026 during office hours, at Main Reception, Farnham House, Stevenage, or on-line at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders by selecting Dacorum and looking at Ref: D01125.
