What is happening?

BRIGHTON AND HOVE CITY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER – LEWES ROAD, BRIGHTON

  1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when it comes into force will have the following effect:-

    (a) The temporary suspension of the southbound Cycle & Bus Lane Traffic Order on Lewes Road, Brighton from its junction with Ringmer Road to its junction with Moulsecoomb Way.

    (b) The temporary suspension of the northbound Cycle & Bus Lane Traffic Order on Lewes Road, Brighton from its northern junction with Home Farm Road for a distance of approx. 90metres in a southerly direction.

    (c) To maintain access, the north and southbound Bus Lanes will be used as the running lane for all vehicles.

  2. The Order is necessary to allow contractors to install a new electricity connection.

  3. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and a signed diversion route will be in place for vehicular & cycle traffic.

  4. This Order comes into force on 17 February 2026 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed, which is anticipated to be 24 February 2026.
