Peronne Road - Temporary Road Closure
What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Peronne Road) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.18) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 26th January 2026 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
PERONNE ROAD
From its junction with Military Road to Peronne Road footbridge.
B) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
SPINNAKER DRIVE
Outside and side of No.21 Spinnaker Drive (on both sides).
ALTHORPE DRIVE
From its junction with Daventry Lane to its junction with Holcot Lane on both sides.
C) TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE
TWYFORD AVENUE COASTAL PROMENADE LEADING NORTH TO HILSEA LIDO
From its junction with Twyford Avenue to its junction with Spinnaker Drive.
BLAKESLEY LANE FOOTPATH Side Of 17 Leading To Eastern Road
From its junction with Blakesley Lane and Eastern Road.
EASTERN ROAD footpath.
From its junction south of the Eastern Road road bridge to Eastern Road Access Road Leading To Kendalls Wharf.
D) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate sea defence works.
E) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 26th January 2026 to 31st December 2026 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place as notified by signage and letters to residents and businesses in advance of works taking place.
F) DIVERSIONS
Vehicles access will be maintained on Peronne Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
Cycle and Pedestrian Diversions:
Twyford Avenue - Northern Parade - Matapan Road - Spinnaker Drive.
Blakesley Lane - Holcot Lane - Wilby Lane - Wilby Lane Footpath Side Of 15 Leading To Eastern Road.
Pedestrian Diversion: Eastern Road Footpath - Eastern Road.
