What is happening?
PROPOSED PARKING PLACES, NEW ROAD
1. Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council proposes to make the following Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984: The Portsmouth City Council (New Road) (Parking Places) Order 2026
2. The effect of the Order would be to:
To introduce time limited parking of 1 hour no return within 1 hour, 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday in New Road, north side, from the double yellow lines east of junction with Northgate Avenue in an easterly direction for 15 metres.
PLEASE NOTE: There would be no exemptions to this restriction for permit holders of the upcoming GD resident permit parking zone scheme.
3. Copies of the draft Order, Statement of Reasons and Map are available to view on Portsmouth City Council’s website: Search 'Traffic Regulation Orders 2026" at
Alternatively, they can be viewed at the Civic Offices, Guildhall Square, PO1 2AL, Monday to Friday between 9am - 4pm. Printed copies can be obtained by calling 023 9260 6480.
4. Persons wishing to object to or make other representations with regard to these proposals must do so in writing, stating the grounds on which they are made. Representations must be sent to
or by post to TRO team, Portsmouth City Council, Civic Offices, Portsmouth PO1 2NE, quoting ref P055-25 within 21 days of the date of this Notice (i.e. by 13 February 2026).
