What is happening?

THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
SECTION 14 (1) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION
OF THROUGH TRAFFIC BEMPTON LANE
LEVEL CROSSING, BEMPTON

Notice is hereby given that East Riding of Yorkshire
Council intends not less than seven days from the date
of this notice to make an Order, the effect of which
will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along
Bempton Lane Level Crossing, Bempton and 20 metres
either side of the level crossing commencing
18 February 2026 at 22.00 hours until 19 February
2026 at 06.30 hours for the purposes of changing
sleepers and timber works. The road closure is
necessary to enable the works to be carried out in
a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of the
public. The Order is valid for 18 months, but it is
anticipated that the works will be completed within
nine hours. The alternative route for traffic affected
by the road closure will be via Bempton Lane, B1255
Marton Road, Scarborough Road South, Scarborough
Road Roundabout, A165 Scarborough Road, A165
Scarborough Road Roundabout, East Riding of Yorkshire
boundary to A165 Reighton Roundabout, A165
Reighton Roundabout to the East Riding of Yorkshire
boundary, B1229 Speeton Gate, B1229 Speeton Gate
and Buckton Gate, Bempton CP, Grindale CP, Reighton
CP, Bridlington CP, Bridlington Central and Old Town
Ward, Bridlington North Ward. The diversion route
will be signed at the time of closure.
The road will be closed to all through traffic but access
will be maintained for emergency vehicles.
