What is happening?

BARGATES, CHRISTCHURCH – ROAD CLOSURE FOR NEW WATER MAIN CONNECTION TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council intends to make temporary traffic regulations, with the effects detailed below, to control traffic.
WHAT: Road closed to all vehicles and no parking – no waiting at any time and no loading/unloading at any time
WHERE: Bargates from its junction with Fountain Roundabout to its junction with Beaconsfield Road
WHY: This is to facilitate a new water main connection. Works by South West Water
WHEN: Anticipated dates: 16th February 2026 until 27th February 2026
ACCESS: Full emergency services access will be maintained, access to properties will remain depending on site safety.
DIVERSION: Via Bargates, Fountain Roundabout, Barrack Road, The Grove, Fairmile Road, Bargates and vice versa

These arrangements may be amended/extended should works overrun or weather conditions delay operations. Restrictions may be in effect under this Order for up to 18 months, and could be further extended with the approval of the Secretary of State.
