What is happening?

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF NORTH TYNESIDE

DUDLEY, NORTH SHIELDS WALLSEND & WHITLEY BAY, NORTH TYNESIDE
TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2026

North Tyneside Council gives notice that it has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic:

DUDLEY
• Western Terrace to the rear of numbers 36-37. An alternate route is available via Dudley Lane Road Linking To Western Terrace, Dudley Lane.
• Wansbeck Road Lane from the junction of Wansbeck Road to the rear of number 4. An alternative route is available via Wansbeck Road, Wansbeck Road Lane.
The temporary Orders are required for a cleanse and CCTV survey to the sewer and will come into force on 28 January 2026 for a period not exceeding 1 day.

NORTH SHIELDS
• Howard Terrace from the junction with Albion Terrace to the rear of 11 Upper Norfolk Street. The temporary Order is required to lay ducting within the carriageway and will come into force on 26 January 2026 for a period not exceeding 3 days. An alternate route is available via Albion Road, Stephenson Street, Suez Street.
• Rudyerd Street Lane from the junction with William Street to the rear of number 21 William Street. The temporary Order is required to excavate and clear a blockage in an existing duct and will come into force on 21 January 2026 lasting until the 23 January 2026. An alternate route is available via Rudyerd Street Lane, Rudyerd Street, Saville Street West.
• Rudyerd Street Lane Between 67 And 68, North Shields. The temporary Order is required To install a new customer connection and will come into force on 26 January 2026 for a period not exceeding 6 days. An alternate route is available via Saville Street West, Borough Road North, Stanley Street.

WALLSEND
Shakespeare Street Lane. The temporary Order is required to provide a new water connection and will come into force on 19 January 2026 lasting until the 31 January 2026. There is no alternative route. Access to be given when possible.

WHITLEY BAY
Seatonville Road from outside numbers 129 - 131.
The temporary Order is required provide a safe working area while a new electric connection is installed and will come into force on 19 January 2026 for a period not exceeding 9 days.
