Brooke Street - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic

What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(BROOKE STREET, CHORLEY, CHORLEY BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Brooke Street, Chorley from a point 20 metres either side of the railway bridge.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from
i. 2300 hours on Saturday 31st January 2026 until 0700 hours on Sunday 1st February 2026
ii. 2300 hours on Saturday 7th February 2026 until 0700 hours on Sunday 8th February 2026
iii. 2300 hours on Saturday 14th February 2026 until 0700 hours on Sunday 15th February 2026
iv. 2300 hours on Saturday 21st February 2026 until 0700 hours on Sunday 22nd February 2026
v. 2300 hours on Saturday 28th February 2026 until 0700 hours on Sunday 1st March 2026
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Brooke Street – Eaves Lane – B6228 Lyons Lane - A6 Lyons Lane South and Vice Versa
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Brickwork repair works to be carried out on the overbridge abutment.
