What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN AMBROSE LANE, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Ambrose Lane, Harpenden from its junction with Cooters End Lane south eastwards, eastwards, south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Hollybush Lane, a distance of approximately 976m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Cooters End Lane, A1081 Luton Road, Clarence Road and Hollybush Lane.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 2 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN LETCHMORE HEATH, RADLETT AND ALDENHAM) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:

1. that length of Common Lane, Letchmore Heath/Radlett from its junction with Grange Lane north eastwards to its junction with New Road, a distance of approximately 1040m.

An alternative route will be via Grange Lane, Primrose Lane, B462 Radlett Road and New Road.

2. that length of New Road, Radlett from its junction with Loom Lane north westwards to its junction with B462 Watford Road, a distance of approximately 645m.

An alternative route will be via Loom Lane, A5183 Watling Street, Park Road and B462 Watford Road.

3. that length of Summerhouse Lane, Aldenham from its junction with Hilfield Lane north eastwards to its junction with Primrose Lane, a distance of approximately 723m.

An alternative route will be via Hilfield Lane, B462 Radlett Road and Primrose Lane.

4. that length of Theobald Street, Radlett from its junction with A5183 Watling Street south eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 1825m.

An alternative route will be via A5183 (Watling Street/Cobden Hill/Watling Street), B5378 Allum Lane and Theobald Street.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 2 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON CRAVELLS ROAD, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of road (“the lengths of Road”) will be:

1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Cravells Road, Harpenden from its junction with Eastmoore Park north eastwards to its junction with Dickinsons Fields, a distance of approximately 136m, except for access.

An alternative route will be via Cravells Road, A1081 St Albans Road, Walkers Road, Southdown Road and Cravells Road.

2. The existing one way traffic system on Cravells Road, Harpenden from its junction with Eastmoore Park north eastwards to its junction with Southdown Road, a distance of approximately 324m will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to travel in both directions within this length of road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because tree removal and installation of fencing at the railway bridge are proposed to be executed on or near the lengths of Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 2 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the lengths of Road.

(TEMPORARY 40MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS ON B556 HARPER LANE, RADLETT) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from being driven at a speed exceeding 40mph on that length of B556 Harper Lane, Radlett from its junction with A5183 Watling Street north westwards, eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with the B5378 Shenley Lane/B556 Bell Lane roundabout, a distance of approximately 2587m (“the Road”), when signs are in place.

The Order is needed because water service connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 2 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF NEWLANDS AVENUE, RADLETT) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Newlands Avenue, Radlett from its junction with Park Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 82m (“the Road”), except for access.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 2 February 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN ST ALBANS AND LONDON COLNEY) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):

1. that length of A414 North Orbital Road, St Albans/London Colney from its junction with the Colney Heath Lane roundabout south westwards, north westwards and south westwards to its junction with the A414 London Colney roundabout, a distance of approximately 2660m.

An alternative route will be via A414 North Orbital Road, A1001 Comet Way, A1057 (St Albans Road/Hatfield Road), A1081 (St Peters Street/Chequer Street) and A5183 (Holywell Hill/St Stephens Hill/Watling Street).

2. the A414 London Colney roundabout, London Colney from its junction with A1081 London Road clockwise for its entire length.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

3. that length of A1081 London Colney Bypass, London Colney from its junction with the A414 London Colney roundabout northwards and southwards to its junction with The Bell roundabout, a distance of approximately 2110m.

An alternative route will be via A414 North Orbital Road, A5183 (Watling Street/Frogmore/Radlett Road/Watling Street), B556 (Bell Lane/Harper Lane) and A1081 Bell Link Overbridge.

4. that length of White Horse Lane, London Colney from its junction with A414 North Orbital Road south westwards, south eastwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 760m.

An alternative route will be via High Street, Coursers Road, Barnet Road, High Street and White Horse Lane.

5. that length of A1081 London Road, St Albans from its junction with the A414 London Colney roundabout north westwards to its junction with the Highfield Park Drive mini roundabout, a distance of approximately 750m.

An alternative route will be via A414 North Orbital Road, A5183 (Watling Street/St Stephens Hill/Holywell Hill and A1081 London Road.

6. that length of High Street, London Colney from its junction with A414 London Colney roundabout south westwards for a distance of approximately 60m.

An alternative route will be via High Street, Barnet Road, A1081 Bell Link Overbridge, B556 (Bell Lane/Harper Lane), A5183 (Watling Street/Radlett Road/Frogmore/Watling Street/St Stephens Hill/Holywell Hill) and A1081 London Road.

Or via A1081 London Colney Bypass, Barnet Road and High Street.

7. that length of A414 North Orbital Road, St Albans from its junction with the A414 Watling Street roundabout south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with the A414 London Colney roundabout, a distance of approximately 2970m.

An alternative route will be via A5183 (Watling Street/St Stephens Hill/Holywell Hill) and A1081 London Road,

or via A1081 (London Colney Bypass/Bell Link Overbridge), B556 (Bell Lane/Harper Lane) and A5183 (Watling Street/Radlett Road/Frogmore/Watling Street).

8. that length of Napsbury Lane, St Albans from its junction with B5378 Napsbury Lane eastwards to its junction with A414 North Orbital Road, a distance of approximately 355m.

An alternative route will be via Napsbury Lane, Mile House Lane and A1081 London Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 19 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A1081 LONDON ROAD, ST ALBANS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A1081 London Road, St Albans from its junction with Black Cut north westwards for a distance of approximately 55m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via A1081 London Road, B6424 Alma Road, B691 Victoria Street and A1081 (Chequer Street/London Road).

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 19 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF GROVE ROAD, HARPENDEN) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Grove Road, Harpenden from its junction with Southdown Road south eastwards to its junction with the Pipers Lane roundabout, a distance of approximately 847m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Piggotshill Lane, Wheathampstead Road and Pipers Lane.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order has been made and shall come into force on 19 January 2026 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
