What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1) CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (CRAB LANE, BIGGLESWADE)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Crab Lane, Biggleswade outside Ivel Medical Centre.

This temporary closure is required to enable defect resurfacing work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 11 to 13 February 2026 between the hours of 8pm and 6am. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure is via Sun St, St Johns St, Potton Rd, b1040 and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 11 February 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (CAMBRIDGE ROAD/ EDWORTH ROAD, LANGFORD)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Cambridge Road between Steamer Croft and Greenways and Edworth Road, Langford between C184 Roundabout for approx. 180m.

This temporary closure is required to enable carriageway repairs and lining works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 9 to 11 February between the hours of 0800-1600. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route will be A1, A6001, B659, Cambridge Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 9 February 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (NEW ROAD, CLIFTON)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of New Road, Clifton at the rear of number 27.

This temporary closure is required to enable new connection works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

It is expected that the works will take place from 28 to 30 January 2026. The road will be closed at all times during this period.

The alternative route for this closure is via Broad St, Clifton Rd, B659, A507 and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 28 January 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL PROPOSES TO AMEND SPEED LIMITS ON AND AROUND LANGFORD ROAD, LANGFORD

Reason for proposal: The proposed Order seeks to introduce a 30 mph speed limit on sections of road currently subject to the national speed limit and a 40 mph limit on the approach to the built-up area of Langford. These revised limits are intended to reduce vehicle speeds on the approach to the village, creating a calmer traffic environment and improving road safety for all users, including pedestrians and cyclists.

Effect of the Order:

To reduce the national speed limit to 30mph on the following length of road in Langford:-

1.  Langford Road, from a point approximately 27.5 metres north of the shared property boundary between Rookery Nook and Homestead and extending south for approximately 92 metres.

To reduce the 40mph speed limit to 30mph on the following length of road in Langford:-

1.  Langford Road, from a point approximately 36.5 metres south of the of the shared property boundary between Rookery Nook and Homestead and extending south for approximately 100 metres.

To introduce a 30mph speed limit on the following length of road in Langford:-

1.  As yet unnamed road, starting at a point approximately 110 metres south of the of the shared property boundary between Rookery Nook and Homestead and extending slightly southeast into the road for approximately 13 metres.
