What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (High Street, West Bromwich) (Temporary Footway & Cycle Lane Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit pedestrians and cyclists from proceeding along High Street, West Bromwich which will have a footway and cycle lane closure in place from the northern boundary line of West Plaza to the northern boundary line of Metro Court (26/01/2026 - 13/02/2026) (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via High Street, West Bromwich via controlled crossings. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 13/02/2026 effective from 26/01/2026 (24hrs). Purpose – To facilitate access for remedial works by Cadent Gas. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Glendene Drive, Great Barr)

(Temporary Footway Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along Glendene Drive, Great Barr which will be closed from its junction with Danford Way for approximately 30 metres (27/01/2026 - 29/01/2026) (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). A diversion route will not be signed. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 29/01/2026 effective from 27/01/2026 (09:30 - 15:30). (Temporary One-way Road Closure) and (Temporay Footpath Closures) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding one-way in a north easterly direction along Lodge Road, West Bromwich, which will be closed from the junction of Oxford Road/Izons Road to the dividing line of property numbers 41/43. A traffic diversion route (westerly direction) will be signed via Oxford Road, Dartmouth Street and High Street. A traffic diversion route (easterly direction) will be signed via Izons Road, Oak Road, Price Street, St Michaels Street and High Street. The order also intends to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding via the footway from opposite the gable end of property number 49a and the gable end of property number 52 (phased section closures during the dates detailed below). A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via the opposite footway and will be accessible by using the temporary pedestrian crossing facility situated outside property number 47 and pedestrian crossing phase at the Lodge Road/Oxford Road/Izons Road traffic signal junction. All residents parking bays in Lodge Road between the junctions of Oxford Road/Izons Road and Grange Road will be suspended for the duration of the works. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 02/02/2026 effective from 26/01/2026 (24hr). Purpose – To facilitate access for footway reconstruction works by Stourbridge Paving Company on behalf of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.
