TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrian traffic from the sections of footways described in the schedule. The Order is required to allow for repairs to the gas main. The order will come into force on 2nd March 2026. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be six months. However, it is anticipated that the works will take approximately twenty six days. All pedestrians will be prohibited from the sections of footways described in the schedule (except for personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. An alternative route will be provided.
Schedule: Kirkham – from the northern property boundary line of 66 Kirkham for a distance of 30 metres in a southerly direction and then 28 metres in a easterly direction; Kirkham – from a point 5 metres east of the western property boundary line of 53 Kirkham for a distance of 15 metres in an easterly direction and then 10 metres in a northern-easterly direction.
