Notice is given that the Council of the City of Peterborough has made an Order pursuant to section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:
The City of Peterborough Temporary Prohibition of Through
Traffic Order 2026 – Castle Drive, Northborough Ref: 26-259
The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Castle Drive, Northborough, at 38. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this order is: St Andrews Road, Granville Avenue and vice versa. The proposed order will come into force on the 19/01/2026 and will continue until the gas connection works have been completed or until the 18/01/2027, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site. It is anticipated that the works will take place between the 19/01/2026 and the 21/01/2026. The City of Peterborough Temporary Prohibition of Through
Traffic Order – Cardinals Gate, Werrington 2026 Ref: 26-251 The effect of which is to stop any pedestrian or cyclist from proceeding along the footpath/cycle path known as Cardinals Gate, Werrington, as lies between 34 and 39 Cardinals Gate. The Council is satisfied that pedestrians and cyclists should be prohibited due to works being proposed to be executed on the above footpath/cycle path. The alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists affected by this Order is: via numbers 5, 37, 38 of Cardinals Gate and vice versa. The Order will come into operation on the 17/01/2026 and will continue until the footway reinstatement works have been completed or until the 16/07/2026, whichever is the earlier. The City of Peterborough Temporary 40mph and 30mph
Speed Restriction Order 2026 – Stanground Bypass
Ref: 26-258
To extend the previous notice, the effect of which is to impose a speed limit on Stanground Bypass from 12/12/2025 as follows: 40mph from a point approx. 300m east of the roundabout with Apollo Avenue until a point approx. 750m east of the roundabout with Stanham Way, where a 30mph speed limit will be imposed. There will also be a 40mph speed limit on Apollo Avenue between a point approx. 70m north of Stanground Bypass until it meets Stanground Bypass. The previous notice came into operation on 12/12/2025 and will continue until the water main repair and associated works have been completed or until the 11/12/2026, whichever is the earlier. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above roads, footways and cyclepaths. The alternative routes for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists affected by this order are detailed in the schedule. The proposed order will come into force on the 27/01/2026 and will continue until the new electrical connection works have been completed or until the 26/01/2027, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site.
It is anticipated that the works will take place between 27/01/2026 and 22/05/2026.
