What is happening?

OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(CLAYDON CANAL BRIDGE – CLAYDON WITH CLATTERCOT) (WEIGHT RESTRICTION) ORDER 20**

NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order – to reflect the assessed load carrying capacity – is to introduce a ‘13 tonne maximum weight limit’ restriction on the Claydon Canal Bridge over the Oxford to Birmingham Canal at Claydon ‘Middle Lock’, replacing the existing historic 3-tonne weight limit in the process. An exemption will be included for Fire Engine ‘Group 1’ capacity vehicles.

The Oxfordshire County Council (Claydon Bridge – Claydon with Clattercot) (Weight Restriction) Order 1970 will be revoked/ replaced as appropriate.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by the end of 13 February 2026. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response to this Notice. They may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public. Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

South Newington, Footpath 355/13/50

Date of Order: 12/1/2026

Coming into force: 20/1/2026

This Order is being introduced because of ongoing building development works in the area. This footpath is closed for safety of the public until an anticipated completion date of 20/7/2026. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily that part of Footpath No.355/13/50 south of Wigginton Road and north of Paradise Farm. The alternative route will be signed via a parallel track. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. This order will remain in force for 6 months and may be extended subject to the Secretary of State for Transport.
