What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (FOOTPATH 105, CHEADLE AND GATLEY NO.2) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) NOTICE 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which introduced a Temporary Closure of Footpath 105 CG Cheadle Hulme, from Heathbank Road to the eastern side of the railway bridge, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said footpath.

This Order is necessary to allow for bridge replacement works to take place. It is estimated that these works will last 6 months.

A diversion will be provided via; North-east for 50m along Heathbank Road 130 to Footpath 96 Cheadle and Gatley. South-west along the footpath for 350m, then south-east across the railway. Then follow the concessionary path north-west for 320m to the other end of the closed section.

This Order will come into operation on 15 January 2026 and will have effect for six months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Ref: JO/9679012.
