TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2026 (NORWICH)
Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984
Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:
i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
PEVERELL ROAD – from its junction with Skoner Road to its junction with Smeat Street to facilitate investigation and repair of carriageway depression from 19th January to 22nd January 2026 (may continue until 5th March 2026). Alternative route is via: Peverell Road, Clover Hill Road, Humbleyard and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
ST FAITHS LANE FOOTWAY – (east side of the carriageway) from its joining with Prince of Wales Road for 20m northwards to facilitate gas main upgrade works from 19th to 30th January 2026 (may continue until 13th March 2026). Alternative route is via: St Faiths Lane, Recorder Road, Prince Of Wales Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Cadent. Please note that these dates replace any previously advertised dates in respect of this location.
SWANSEA ROAD – from its junction with Denbigh Road for 30m southwards to facilitate new water connection works from 19th to 21st January 2026 (may continue until 4th March 2026). Alternative route is via: Denbigh Road, Cardiff Road, Avenue Road, Swansea Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
BRANKSOME ROAD – from 50m southeast of its junction with Newmarket Road to its junction with Branksome Close to facilitate manhole cover repair works from 12th to 14th January 2026 (may continue until 25th February 2026). Alternative route is via: Newmarket Road, Eaton Road, Waverley Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NB: Please note that access for residents between Waverley Road and Branksome Close will be maintained by onsite operatives.
CHRISTCHURCH ROAD & UNTHANK ROAD –
A) Christchurch Road from its junction with Unthank Road to its junction with Grange Road and
B) Christchurch Road from its junction with Unthank Road to its junction with The Plantation and
C) Unthank Road from its junction with Beechbank for 220m south-westwards to facilitate traffic signal upgrade and pedestrian crossing installation works, the Roads A, B and C will be temporarily closed and traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Roads A and B shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 12th January to 20th February 2026 (may continue until 20th August 2026).
Alternative route is via:

A) Unthank Road, Colman Road, Jessopp Road, Christchurch Road and vice versa;

B) Unthank Road, Mile End Road, Newmarket Road, Christchurch Road and vice versa;

C) Unthank Road, Earlham Road, Colman Road and vice versa.
The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NB: Please note that Road A and Road B will be closed and restricted from 12th January to 20th February. Road C will be closed from 18th to 20th February. NB: The parking restriction on Road A and B applies to both sides of the carriageway.
JUNCTION ROAD – from its junction with Avonnmouth Road for 24m north-eastwards to facilitate pipe repair works from 14th to 16th January 2026 (may continue until 27th February 2026). Alternative route is via: Junction Road, Drayton Road, Mile Cross Road, Half Mile Road, Aylsham Road and vice versa.
The works promoter is Anglian Water.
STANLEY AVENUE – from its junction with Harvey Lane to its junction with Thorpe Road to facilitate footway reconstruction works from 12th January to 6th March 2026 (may continue until 6th September 2026). Alternative route is via: Thorpe Road, Harvey Lane, and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath.
Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice.
If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
