Gresford Street - Temporary Prohibition of driving order
What is happening?
SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL
(GRESFORD STREET AND WHITEHALL STREET, SOUTH SHIELDS – NO WAITING/NO
LOADING AT ANY TIME AND SCHOOL ENTRANCE MARKING) ORDER 2025
On 7 January 2026 South Tyneside Council made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The Order which comes into operation on 14 January 2026 will:- REVOKE No Waiting At Any Time and No Loading/Unloading At Any Time on Gresford St south-west
side from a point 7m north west of its junction with the north west side of Whitehall St for 27m in a north westerly direction and School Entrance Marking Mon-Fri 8am-5pm on Gresford St north-west side from its junction with the north west side of Whitehall St for 37.56m in a north westerly direction; from a point 38.66m north west of its junction with the north west side of Whitehall St for 25.56m in a north westerly direction and north-east side from a point 16m south east of its junction with Revesby St for 75m in a south easterly direction and on Whitehall St north-west side from a point 23m north east of its junction with Gresford St in a north easterly direction for 25.56m and from a point 49.56m north east of its junction with Gresford St in a north easterly direction for 43.56m. INTRODUCE No Waiting At Any Time and No Loading/Unloading At Any Time on Gresford St north side from a point 5m south of its junction with Whitehall St in a northerly direction for 25m and south side from a point 5m south of its junction with Whitehall St in a northerly then north westerly direction for 45m and on Whitehall St both sides from a point 5m south west of its junction with Gresford St in a north easterly direction for 19m. School Entrance Marking Mon-Fri 8am-5pm on Gresford St north side from a point 11m north of its junction with Whitehall St in a northerly then north westerly direction for 31.56m and from a point 42.56m north of its junction with Whitehall St in a north westerly direction for 31.56m and on Whitehall St north-west side from a point 25m north east of its junction with Gresford St in a north easterly direction for 31.56m and from a point 56.56m north east of its junction with Gresford St in a north easterly direction for 31.56m.
Full details are contained in the Order, which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 2RL.
Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any of the requirements of the Act or of any relevant regulations made under the Act have not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 7 January 2026 when the Order was made, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
