What is happening?
SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:
A) B4069 (Part), Sutton Benger and Christian Malford; from its junction with Sutton Lane to its junction with Friday Street to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing, road marking & ironwork adjustment works and other associated works. Alternative route via B4069 (unaffected length) – C45 – C77 – C66 – B4069 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 02 February 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 15:00 until 10 February 2026. B) Church Street (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett; from its property known as No.52 Church Street for a distance of approximately 75m in a north westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out work on existing junction box and ducting to a property and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 02 February 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00 for 1 day. C) C205 (Part), Great Bedwyn; from a point approximately 15m south west of its junction with Pothecary Lane for a distance of approximately 60m in a south westerly direction to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out changing electricity poles either side of the road and upgrading the overhead conductor. Alternative route via C86 (unaffected length) – C72 – C33 – C1 – C27 – C86 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on consecutive weekends. Firstly the 10 January 2026 – 12 January 2026 and the closure will be required between the hours of 04:00 and 04:00. This is a total of 9 days. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (VARIOUS ROADS, VARIOUS PARISHES) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (No.62) 2026 (Ref TTRO 11009)
Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council intends to make an Order to close temporarily, to all vehicles, the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this notice. The order is required to enable carriageway micro asphalt and associated maintenance works and will be operative from the 02 February 2026 for a maximum period of 18 months. The closures are anticipated to be for 5 days but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works. It is anticipated that advance information signs will be deployed 2 weeks prior to the closures. Access will be maintained where possible although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. The closures are anticipated to take place between 02 February 2026 and 27 March 2026.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (UNION STREET, RAMSBURY) (ONE WAY TRAFFIC) EXPERIMENTAL ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council made the above-mentioned Experimental Order on 31 December 2025 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”). The Order has a maximum duration of 18 months, and during that time consideration will be given to introducing a permanent Order.
The effect of the Experimental Order will be to introduce a one-way system of traffic on Union Street, Ramsbury from its junction with Newtown Road to its junction with Oxford Street/Whittonditch Road with traffic flowing in a northbound direction.
Deposit copies of the Order, plan and the Council’s Statement of Reasons for making the Experimental Order may be inspected at the Offices of Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge during normal office hours. Details of the proposed scheme may also be seen at Ramsbury Library, Chapel House, High Street SN8 2PQ between the hours of 2pm to 4pm Monday and Thursday, 10am to midday Wednesday and Saturday for the duration of the objection period. Objections to the making of an Order for the purposes of such indefinite continuation should be made in writing to reach the Traffic Order Team, Highways Asset and Commissioning, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge, BA14 8JN by email to: TrafficOrderConsultations@wiltshire.gov.uk or via the website at: https://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/troconsultations stating the grounds on which they are made (quoting reference LJB/TRO/RAM5exp):
(a) within a period of six months beginning with the day on which the Experimental Order came into force; or
(b) if that Order is varied by another Order or modified pursuant to Section 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, within a period of six months beginning on the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force.
Any person aggrieved by the Experimental Order and desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant Section of the Act or on the grounds that any requirement of that Section or of Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act or any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
The Experimental Order will come into operation on 20 January 2026.
