A1 Trunk Road - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic To Resurfacing Works

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) AND (7)
THE A1 TRUNK ROAD (BETWEEN LITTLE PONTON AND GREAT PONTON, LINCOLNSHIRE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an order on the A1 Trunk Road, between Little Ponton and Great Ponton in the County of Lincolnshire, to allow resurfacing works to be carried out nearby.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit vehicles from –

(1) entering or proceeding through the gap in the central reservation of the A1 opposite its junction with Whalebone Lane, at Little Ponton;

(2) making a right turn from the northbound carriageway of the A1 through the gap in the central reservation opposite its junction with Whalebone Lane, at Little Ponton;

(3) leaving the southbound carriageway of the A1 at its junction with Whalebone Lane, at Little Ponton;

(4) entering or proceeding through the gap in the central reservation of the A1 opposite its junction with Dallygate, at Great Ponton; or

(5) making a right turn from the northbound carriageway of the A1 through the gap in the central reservation opposite its junction with Dallygate, at Great Ponton.

The work will be carried out overnight between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours and is expected to start on Tuesday 3 February 2026 and continue for two nights. The Order will come into force on 27 January 2026.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the prohibitions.

Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the A1 will be signed.
