Peterborough: Werrington, Northborough - Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic

What is happening?

Notice is given that the Council of the City of Peterborough intends in not less than seven days to make an Order pursuant to section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:

The City of Peterborough Temporary Prohibition of Through
Traffic Order – Cardinals Gate, Werrington – 2026
Ref: 26-251

The effect of which is to stop any pedestrian or cyclist from proceeding along the footpath/cycle path known as Cardinals Gate, Werrington, as lies between 34 and 39 Cardinals Gate. The Council is satisfied that pedestrians and cyclists should be prohibited due to works being proposed to be executed on the above footpath/cycle path. The alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists affected by this order is: via numbers 5, 37, 38 of Cardinals Gate and vice versa. The proposed Order will come into operation on 17/01/2026 and will continue until the footway reinstatement works have been completed or until the 16/07/2026, whichever is the earlier.
It is anticipated that the works will be carried out on 17/01/2026 between 09:30 and 13:00.

The City of Peterborough Temporary Prohibition of Through
Traffic Order 2026 – Castle Drive, Northborough
Ref: 26-259

The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Castle Drive, Northborough, at 38. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this order is: St Andrews Road, Granville Avenue and vice versa. The proposed order will come into force on the 19/01/2026 and will continue until the gas connection works have been completed or until the 18/01/2027, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site.
It is anticipated that the works will take place between 19/01/2026 and 21/01/2026.

The Council of the City of Peterborough gives notice pursuant to section 14(2)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984

The City of Peterborough, Welland Road, Road Traffic
Regulations Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic
(Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991
(Temporary Restriction of Through Traffic) Notice 26-264 2026         
Ref: 26-264

The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Welland Road, as lies between the A47 and Veolia access. Access will be maintained for Veolia traffic over 7.5T by means of escort. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this order is: A47, Fulbridge Road, St Pauls Road, Welland Road and vice versa. This notice is made in the interest of sign installation works and will remain effective for no more than 5 days from 12/01/2026. Works will take place overnight only. The Notice shall not apply to any persons lawfully engaged in connection with any works for which it is made, any member of the Police Force, Fire and Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, a vehicle being used by Special Forces during the execution of their duties or any person acting with permission or upon the direction of a police Officer in uniform.
