What is happening?

THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL
(SUMMERHALL AREA)
(TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION)
ORDER 2026 – TEMP/26/1

The Council has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate carriageway resurfacing, raised table construction, footway resurfacing, tactile paving installation, footway buildout construction, traffic signals renewal and cycle lane construction works, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit any vehicle to be driven on any part of: (i) Melville Ter at Summerhall; (ii) Sciennes at Summerhall; and (iii) Summerhall Sq at Summerhall Pl; and (b) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on Summerhall Pl (east side) from the extended north kerbline of Summerhall Sq, southwards to the extended south kerbline of West Preston St. There is no available diversion with respect to the closure of (iii) Summerhall Sq, where local access will not be maintained. The alternative routes for through vehicular traffic in relation to the closures of: (i) Melville Ter – (1) Summerhall, Melville Dr, Argyle Pl, Fingal Pl, Rillbank Cres, Rillbank Ter and Melville Ter; and (2) Summerhall Pl, Causewayside, Grange Rd, St. Catherine’s Pl, Sciennes Rd, Gladstone Ter and Melville Ter; and (ii) Sciennes – (1) Summerhall Pl, Causewayside, Grange Rd, St. Catherine’s Pl, Sciennes Rd and Sciennes; and (2) Summerhall, Melville Dr, Argyle Pl, Fingal Pl, Rillbank Cres, Rillbank Ter, Melville Ter, Gladstone Ter, Sciennes Rd and Sciennes. The Order shall have effect from 12/01/26 to 01/05/26.
