What is happening?

(Gladstone Street, West Bromwich)
(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Gladstone Street, between the access to the complex of flats located at the junction of Church Street & access to Church Lane Industrial Estate (Units 11-12 only). Traffic will be diverted via Church Lane, Small Street, Greswold Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 16/01/2026. (Crankhall Lane, Wednesbury)
(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Crankhall Lane, between Brunswick Park Road & Oldbury Street. Diversion routes will be signed via Woden Road East, Wood Green Road, Hydes Road & Brunswick Park Road and via Brunswick Park Road, Wood Green Road & Brunswick Park Road. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 19/01/2026 (6am), effective from 18/01/2026 (7pm). Purpose – to facilitate a bridge inspection by Network Rail. (Castle Road and Castle Street, Tipton)
(Temporary Road Closures) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Castle Road, which will be closed between the junctions of Dudley Road & Kenilworth Close (eastern side) & Castle Street from the junction of High Street for 55 metres. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A diversion route for the Castle Road closure will be signed via Menin Road, Shrubbery Avenue & vice versa (19th January – 20th February 2026). A traffic diversion route for the Castle Street closure will be signed via High Street, Park Lane West & vice versa (2nd - 20th February 2026). The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 20/02/2026, effective from 19/01/2026 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for gas main works by Cadent Gas Ltd.

(Newton Road, Great Barr)
(Temporary Central Reservation Gap Closure) and
(Newton Road, Great Barr) (Temporary 30mph Speed Limit Restrictions) Order 2026
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via the central reservation gap on Newton Road at the junction of Monksfield Avenue (phased closures within the dates detailed below). Vehicles will be prohibited from a right turn from Newton Road to Monksfield Avenue and a right turn from Monksfield Avenue to Newton Road. A traffic diversion route for vehicles seeking to turn right from Newton Road to Monksfield Avenue will be signed via Newton Road (westbound), Heath Lane, Walsall Road, Lyndhurst Road, Hollyhedge Road & Newton Road (eastbound). A traffic diversion route for vehicles seeking to turn right from Monksfield Avenue to Newton Road will be signed via Newton Road (eastbound), Birmingham Road (northbound), M6 Junction 7 Roundabout, Birmingham Road (southbound) & Newton Road (westbound). A temporary 30mph speed limit on Newton Road will be in operation for the duration of the scheme at the following locations: 1) Easterly direction from the dividing line of property Nos 173/175 to the junction of High Beeches (western side). 2) Westerly direction from the dividing line of property Nos. 88/90 to the Scott Bridge (eastern side). The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 03/04/2026, effective from 19/01/2026 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for works associated with a new traffic signal installation by Bridge Construction on behalf of Sandwell MBC.

(Upper High Street, Cradley Heath)
(Temporary Road Closure and No Right Turn Restriction) Order 2026
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Upper High Street, which will be closed from the junction of Corngreaves Road to the gable end of Sign Wizards. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Upper High Street, Corngreaves Road & vice versa. The order also intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via a right turn from Upper High Street at the Bus Gate facility (traffic signal intersection). The maximum duration is 18 months but work for the closure is expected to be completed by 30/01/2026, effective from 19/01/2026 (24hrs). Purpose – to facilitate access for traffic signal installation works by Bridge Construction Ltd/Telent Technology on behalf of Sandwell MBC. (Temporary Road Closure, One-Way Suspension) Order 2026
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Capethorn Road, which will be closed at its junction with Bearwood Road for approximately 35 metres. A one-way suspension will also be in place at Capethorn Road for the duration of the Capethorn Road closure. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Bearwood Road & Waterloo Road. In addition there will be 3-way temporary traffic signals in operation on Bearwood Road & Church Road for the duration of the Capethorn Road road closure. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed on 18/01/2026 (8am - 3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for remedial works by Severn Trent Water. intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Oak Road, which will be closed at its junction with Bloomfield Road for approximately 10 metres. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Bloomfield Road, Bloomfield Terrace & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 19/01/2026 (9:30am - 2:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for remedial works by Severn Trent Water. intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Dog Kennel Lane, which will be closed at its junction with Resevoir Road/Londonderry Lane to south of its junction with Starkie Drive. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Thimblemill Road, Three Shires Oak, Bearwood Road, Hagley Road West, Wolverhampton Road, Causeway Green Road, New Henry Street, Joinings Bank, Vicarage Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 22/01/2026, effective from 19/01/2026 (24hrs). Purpose – to facilitate access for repair works by South Staffs Water. (Middlemore Road, Smethwick)
(Event Day Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Middlemore Road, Smethwick, 95 minutes prior to the advertised start time on an event day until 40 minutes after the conclusion of the event at The Hawthorns when the event is a sports match attracting in advance of 2000 spectators, other than on the instruction of a police officer or the council’s traffic manager.
Middlemore Road, Smethwick – both lanes – from a point 15 metres north of its junction with Carlton Road for a distance of 250 metres in a north-easterly direction to the borough boundary of Birmingham City Council. Exemptions apply as follows: to vehicles accessing businesses located along Middlemore Road, vehicles belonging to residents of the residential premises located on Middlemore Road, Albion Road, Lones Road & St Stephen’s Road & away supporters coaches when the event day is a sports match.
Middlemore Road, Smethwick – both lanes – from the borough boundary of the council, 265 metres north-east of its junction with Carlton Road, for a distance of 365 metres in a north-easterly direction to its junction with Holyhead Road (please note that this section of road is under Birmingham City Councils jurisdiction and consent for Sandwell MBC to include this section in this temporary order is given by Birmingham County Council in line with provisions of 125 (2) in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984). Exemptions apply as follows: to vehicles accessing businesses located along Middlemore Road & away supporters’ coaches when the event day is a sports match. Traffic signs providing notification and indicating the effect of the restrictions detailed in this order will be placed and maintained by police officers or any other party authorised by the chief constable or local traffic authority under Part V of the 1984 Act. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the Temporary Traffic Regulation Order is expected to be operational until a full Traffic Regulation Order to the same effect is made, effective from 16/01/2026. Purpose – to facilitate access for away supporters’ coaches when a sporting event fitting the criteria is taking place at The Hawthorns.
