Douglas Avenue - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(DOUGLAS AVENUE, HEYSHAM, LANCASTER CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over that length of Douglas Avenue from outside to opposite property no 6 Douglas Avenue, Heysham.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 19th January 2026 until 1600 hours on Wednesday 21st January 2026 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Douglas Avenue – Douglas Drive – Heysham Mossgate Road – A89 Heysham Road – Douglas Drive and vie versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow longsided disconnection of old lead supply and replacement with new connection to the water main to be carried out by Network Plus on Behalf of United Utilities.
