CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL PROPOSES TO INTRODUCE

A 20MPH AND 40MPH SPEED LIMIT ON CAMBRIDGE ROAD AND A 40MPH SPEED LIMIT ON EDWORTH ROAD, LANGFORD

Reason for proposal: The introduction of a 20mph speed limit, together with a 40mph buffer zone is being proposed on the approach to the

builtup area. The revised limits are intended to reduce vehicle speeds on the approach, and over the railway bridge, where traffic movements will be placed under signal control. This helps improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians, promoting a calmed traffic environment.

Effect of the Order:

To introduce a 20mph Speed Limit on the following lengths of road in Langford:-

1. Cambridge Road, from a point approximately 17 metres west of the centre of the junction with Steamer Croft and extending in an easterly direction for approximately 83 metres, ending at a point where the road becomes Edworth Road (approximately at the centre of the railway bridge).

2. Edworth Road, from the point where the road meets Cambridge Road (approximately at the centre of the railway bridge) and extending in an easterly direction for approximately 90 metres.

To introduce a 40mph Speed Limit on the following lengths of road in Langford:-

1.  Edworth Road, from a point approximately 90 metres east of the centre of the railway bridge and extending east for approximately 254 metres.
