York - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility and Telecoms Works

What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Wednesday, 31 December 2025 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3) & (4).

(1) MALTON ROAD, YORK
This Order suspends the southbound bus lane in that length of road on Malton Road, York between locations 115 metres and 170 metres north of its roundabout controlled junction with Heworth Green (suspended bus lane) to allow all vehicles to use the bus lane during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Tuesday, 06 January 2026 and ending at 1530hrs on Tuesday, 06 January 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.

(2) HULL ROAD, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of central reservation traffic lane on Hull Road, York between a point 125 metres northeast of the projected centreline of Osbaldwick Link Road and a point 11 metres southwest of the said centreline (closed traffic lane) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Wednesday, 14 January 2026 and ending at 0500hrs on Thursday, 15 January 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Hull Road.

(3) GLEBE AVENUE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Glebe Avenue, York between the junction with Malvern Avenue and the projection–western boundary of property no. 9 (closed road) during the period when Yorkshire Water works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Thursday, 15 January 2026 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 16 January 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Carr Lane, Boroughbridge Road, Malvern Avenue.

(4) BELLMANS CROFT, COPMANTHORPE
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Bellmans Croft, Copmanthorpe between the projected south–eastern boundary of property no’s 1 & 5 (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Thursday, 15 January 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Wednesday, 21 January 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period. Access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained.

These two temporary Orders will not prohibit works or other activities for which no will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
