What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Mascalls Lane, Great Warley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mascalls Lane, Great Warley in the Borough of Brentwood, from its junction with Warley Hill for a distance of approximately 170m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd February 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP40008902195 – SP Bardwell).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway resurfacing and lining works are undertaken by SP Bardwell.

An alternative route is available via B186, B185, A1023, Mascalls Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 14th January 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
