What is happening?

THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL

(BANKHEAD DRIVE AND BANKHEAD AVENUE AREA) ORDER 2025 - TEMP/25/157

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate road & footway improvements for the West Edinburgh Link project, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on the section of road specified in Schedule1; (b) except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, drive or cause or permit any vehicle to be driven on any lengths of road specified in Schedule 2, otherwise than in the direction specified in the said Schedule, provided that no more than one of the measures described in Schedule 2 shall be enacted at the same time; (c) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait, or load onto or unload from any vehicle on the sections of roads specified in Schedule 3; & (d) walk or cause or permit any person to walk on any part of the footpaths or footways specified in Schedule 4. The westbound bus lane on Bankhead Dr shall be suspended for the duration of this Order to facilitate westbound traffic and traffic management lane closures. The alternative route for through vehicular traffic in relation to the road closure is Bankhead Crossway Nth, Bankhead Broadway & Bankhead Dr. The alternative route for through vehicular traffic in relation to the one-way roads on (i) Bankhead Dr is (1) Bankhead Dr, Broomhouse Rd, Calder Rd & Bankhead Ave & (2) Bankhead

Broadway, Bankhead Crossway Nth, Bankhead Ave, Calder Rd & Broomhouse Rd; & (ii) Bankhead Ave is Bankhead Crossway Nth, Bankhead Broadway & Bankhead Dr. The alternative route for through pedestrian traffic in relation to the footpath or footway closure of: (a) Bankhead Dr, south side is Bankhead Dr, north side; (b) Bankhead Dr, north side is Bankhead Dr, south side; (c) Sth Gyle Access, east side is Bankhead Dr, south side and then Sth Gyle Access, west side; & (d) Bankhead Ave, east side is Bankhead Ave, west side. The Order shall have effect from 05/01/26 to 04/07/26. SCHEDULE 1 ROAD CLOSURE between 19:00 hours & 06:00 hours each day from 23/03/26 to 28/03/26 on: Bankhead Ave, from the extended south kerbline of Bankhead Dr, southwards and then westwards for 230m.

SCHEDULE 3 PROHIBITION OF WAITING, LOADING AND UNLOADING  From 05/01/26 to 04/07/26 on Bankhead Ave, south side, from 9m east of the extended east kerbline of Bankhead Ave, eastwards to 8m west of the extended northwest kerbline of the access rd to Edinburgh College.

SCHEDULE 4 FOOTPATH & FOOTWAY CLOSURES:

From 05/01/26 to 04/07/26 on: (a) Bankhead Dr, south side (i) from the extended east kerbline of Bankhead Ave, eastwards for 100 m; & (ii) from the extended west kerbline of Bankhead Ave, westwards for 10m; (b) Bankhead Dr, north side, from the extended west kerbline of Sth Gyle Access, westwards for 100m; (c) South Gyle Access, east side, from the extended north kerbline of Bankhead Dr, northwards for 25m; & (d) Bankhead Ave, east side, from the extended south kerbline of Bankhead Dr, southwards and then westwards for 200m.
