Suffolk - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Speed Restrictions due to Utility and Infrastructure Works
What is happening?
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF BYWAY 27, KESSINGLAND
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing Byway 27, Kessingland to facilitate the installation of a fibre network. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
The diversion route will be Green Lane, Church Road, Wash Lane, Beaconsfield Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 05/01/2026 - 15/01/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 6 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE B1353 THORPE ROAD, ALDRINGHAM CUM THORPE
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the B1353 Thorpe Road, Aldringham cum Thorpe from the tea room to the junction with Church Lane to facilitate new access for power networks. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be B1353, The Whinlands, The Haven, Remembrance Road, Aldeburgh Road, Thorpe Road, Market Cross Place, the A1094, B1122 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 05/01/2026 - 30/01/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE B1122 MIDDLETON ROAD, YOXFORD
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the B1122 Middleton Road, Yoxford from the junction with the A12 for 370 metres eastbound to facilitate a water main replacement. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be the A12, the A1094, the B1069, the B1122 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 05/01/2026 - 09/01/2026 from 8pm - 5am but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U7223 SIMMS LANE, KEDINGTON
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U7223 Simms Lane, Kedington from 300 metres northeast of Whybrowers for 50 metres north eastbound to facilitate a new electricity supply. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Simms Lane, Cock Hill, Rectory Road, Silver Street, Hundon Road, Simms Lane and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 05/01/2026 - 09/01/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U8701 North Street, Sudbury from number 14 for 30 metres southbound to facilitate water works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be New Street, Prince Street, Inkerman Road, Croft Road, the A131, the B1115 with no vice versa.
For the duration of this closure there will be a suspension of the one-way provision on the U8701 North Street, Sudbury
It is intended that these measures will operate from 05/01/2026 - 07/01/2026 from 8pm - 6am.
If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY TRAFFIC ON PART OF THE U6730 BEECH GROVE AND WESTERN AVENUE, HAVERHILL
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:
• U6730 Beech Grove, Haverhill from Eastern Avenue and Western Avenue
• U6730 Western Avenue, Haverhill from Beech Grove to Cambridge Way.
This is to facilitate footway reconstruction works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Eastern Avenue, the A1307, Western Avenue and vice versa.
For the duration of this closure there will be a suspension of the one-way provision on the:
• U6730 Beech Grove, Haverhill
• U6730 Western Avenue, Haverhill.
It is intended that these measures will operate from 05/01/2026 – 16/02/2026 from 9am – 3pm.
If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTION ON PART OF THE A1092 CAVENDISH ROAD AND CLARE ROAD, CLARE AND CAVENDISH
Suffolk County Council has made an order for a temporary 30 mph speed restriction on the following roads:
• A1092 Cavendish Road, Clare from Clare Hall to Clare Road
• A1092 Clare Road, Cavendish from Cavendish Road to Stour Street.
This is to facilitate flood investigation works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
It is intended that this measure will operate from 05/01/2026 - 30/01/2026 from 9pm - 3am.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 05/01/2026 – 06/01/2026 from 8am – 6pm.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 05/01/2026 – 13/01/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

It is intended that the closure will operate on 05/01/2026 from 9.30am – 3.30pm. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

It is intended that the closure will operate from 05/01/2026 - 16/01/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:
• U5149 Portman Road, Ipswich from London Road for 80 metres south eastbound
• U5148 London Road, Ipswich from 80 metres west of the junction with Burlington Road to Portman Road
• U5007 Burlington Road, Ipswich from London Road for 40 metres southbound.
This is to facilitate a gas main replacement. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Handford Road, Burlington Road, Crescent Road, Portman Road, Handford Road and vice versa.
For the duration of this closure there will also be a suspension of the prohibition of entry on the U5148 Burlington Road, Ipswich to allow access and egress.
It is intended that these measures will operate from 05/01/2026 – 14/01/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

The diversion route will be the A12, the A1094, the B1069, the B1078 and no vice versa.
From 05/01/2026 – 03/03/2026 there will also be a temporary 30mph speed restriction on the B1116 The Street, Hacheston from the B1078 Roundabout for 1480 metres eastbound.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 05/01/2026 – 03/03/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).
